I bought this exact one last week, and I agree. This thing is scary powerful, almost too bright. My wife got 2 kittens, and I got this mainly as a toy for them, but it's too powerful. I think one slip and you shine it in a person or pet's eye up close and you will probably cause permanent vision loss.

What's the output and wavelength of this laser? That used to be very basic stuff that would be included on every post. Has amazon dumbed it down this much?!

Actually I believe the reason this infos not included is due to the extreme power of the laser. I've bought 2 previously 4 $10 a piece and they were a lil different, but both r extremely visible at all angles. A lil scary actually.....

I use one of these for work at a refinery. You can point out equipment even when the sun's out. They're definitely brighter than a cat toy laser. One bad thing is they aren't high quality or very durable. I think I paid around $20 for one a few years back so $7 is a good deal

Great way to catch felony charges if there are any aircraft nearby.

These are 5W lasers, i recently bought one from an amazon returns dumping troup for $3. Works great and has a metal heft, but to correct you a slight bit in nuance, "The output of the laser is 5w" "the output wavelength is unknown but likely 410-420nm" but a little science and you can figure that out pretty quickly. That said, WEAR UV GOGGLES or you will burn your eyes out with the reflections. DO NOT SHINE THIS AT AIRCRAFT is not a true laser so the beam spreads out and can become a 5 mIle long spotlight that blinds pilots (and its a federal crime). Yes, these will fark UP security cameras

Beware these cheap lasers. They are often far more powerful than claimed because it is illegal to sell more powerful ones (or at least they are subject to more regulation and the fact that they are being sold without meeting those regulations and accurately describing their power makes them illegal).

If you have a legit use for one and are capable of knowing and using the proper eye protection and other safety measures to ensure you don't harm yourself or someone else by all means get it, but don't treat it like a toy.
