I purchased this a year ago for the same price and it has come in handy multiple times. I wish I had one of these back in the early 2000s. Hold a charge well and has been able to jumpstart a large battery three or four times before needing to be recharged. Highly recommended

The amp ratings on ALL of these jump starters are complete fiction. Consider the wire gauge requirements, 20amp is a 12 gauge wire (which is about what the wire connected to these battery clamps looks like). You would need 100 12g wires (on each pole) to handle 2000a.

Now these things do work surprisingly well for what they are, but lets not fool ourselves into thinking they are going to send thousands of amps out those thin little wires.

The current rating is instantaneous, not continuous. These jump starters can only provide high current for about 15 seconds, then they need a cool down period for the reasons you mentioned.

When I saw these first appearing (with li-ion batteries) in the early 2010s, I thought they were going to wind up being a very handy product to have around. However, I have resisted buying one to date because I use my battery chargers about 100x more often than I actually jump start anything, and I also have concerns about temperature extremes. I'm okay with biting at this price point and model because I have a small engine that's inconveniently troublesome. And maybe I'll throw it in the car on long trips.

But if anyone wants to point me at a model with steady 12VDC output and/or 65W USB-C PD, I'm all ears (eyes?). AstroAI wants you to step up to the S8 Ultra at $49, which doesn't trigger my impulsiveness as immediately.
Yesper 20000mah 3000 amp 100W PD, no case.

Seems to be a legit seller, reviews are decent on the store page and Amazon page. Likely clearing old inventory, shipping is slow as well.

~$36 and the wattage checks out on Amazon at least with a buyer bench testing it.

YMMV

Those wires are very short. It would need 100 12g wires to supply that much current at a sustained rate without ever overheating yes. Have you ever looked up how much current a modern computer processor uses over small copper traces on a motherboard?

Got a different brand off Amazon recently for $20, funny thing is the first time I used it, the % dropped to 54% but maybe it's because I kept it connected for a bit after starting the car.

Yup, not to mention that these things are being used like capacitors where it just shoots out a ton of amperage over a very short duration. If it needed to keep putting out that amount of power, the wires would probably start getting insanely hot or could start melting.

not to mention 12v DC and 120v AC are two different things. I think DC current should have won out (at least in more things) back in the day.

Store in an insulated container in your truck out of the sun and you will be fine. Other than that try to avoid charging it when it is already physically hot. Just my opinion based personal experience with these batteries. I did have one swell on me do to 100+ heat (left it in the cab where direct sunlight could hit it) but have two others that I never had any issues with years of use.

I got this a few months back for the same price. I loaned it to a friend and he said it worked like a charm to jump start his 2010 WRX STI.

I ordered this exact same item in April for $26 and the one time I needed it, it worked great for me. Just ordered one for our second car.
