Really trying to talk myself into buying this so i can then never use it... Decisions
If you work on cars this is perfect for spot welds and grinding those hard to get spots
Lol I'd love to see you try to grind down spot welds with an angle grinder when replacing car panels.

It seems like a pretty expensive tool for something where an angle grinder would do 95% of the time.

It's even cheaper now: $155.32
Looks like it's coming from a different authorized seller now. I couldn't resist and am in for one.

Another tool thanks to slickdeals, that will sit on my shelf, just in case I run across a scenario where it can be used... the wife is going to kill me 😬

Man, I really want this. I have the cutoff tool that's been modified to be a band file, but it doesn't have variable speed or tooless position adjustment.

Mostly filing bands, but if you had some bands, you could also file them with this.

Places you would use a file or a stone burr on a die grinder. This has better reach, fits in tight spaces, removes material faster and more precisely. You can use grits from 24 to 2000, so you have a lot of control of the finish.

I bought an inexpensive pneumatic one for that reason. It doesn't get used often enough to justify the cost of a battery-powered one, and it only cost $30. It's certainly lower quality than the DeWalt, but it works.

This is a crucial tool in my field. Does anyone know the contact arm part number? I would need more details on the contact arm before considering a purchase (mainly cost and size of wheel on the end). Pretty tired of spending an arm n leg on dynabrade contact arms, brushes etc.

FWIW: imo, the ryobi version of this is pretty bad (shocker right), although it's probably ok for DIYers around the house for light work. This dewalt has to be much better than the Ryobi so I wouldnt recommend spending more than like $50 on the Ryobi.

Also, IF you are doing DIY work or even occasional legitimate work, in most cases you will be better off just getting a Bauer brand plug in version for like $55 at Harbour freight. Remember the file is only going to be as good as the quality of the belt you are using.

edit: The Wen brand is supposedly another good cheap option
