They do not increase the price of the trips. That is just not reality.

You can only order once every 14 days. As long as you're beyond that, you shouldn't have any issues. If you do, you'll probably have to reach out to Costco. In the past my account had some kind of flag on it so I couldn't order anything online for some reason.

Its false. I use the cards and I have used cash/credit at the same time. All noise. Uber changes prices literailly by the minute in some cases. You can pull up a rate and within a minute or two the rate is different up or down. Lyft does the same. Mysteriously as Uber rates rise so does Lyft in many cases. You can have both apps on your phone. Check Lyft as well. You will see how similar they are most of the time for the same type of car. Anything else is anecdotal. You may use Uber once or twice. I have used it alot for years around the world. The gift card wallet is only good in the US. Now if this could be proven it would be a state case against them for fraud. Furthermore what you dont know is that you can pick to pay by card in your account and after the trip switch it to the gift card. I am sure that article doesnt know that either. You can also do that within 30 days. Sorry. Newspaper articles are weak because they dont know any real travel hackers anyway.

I wonder if the deal makes sense if using uber since gift cards increase the price of trips but if you use it for uber eats it shouldn't adjust the price.

Does this mean it can't be used for a round trip - going to and from an appt? I don't want to buy 2 certificates as I don't know if or when I'll need Uber again.

You load them into your Uber account. The limit is only how many cards you can buy. There is no issue for you. It loads into Uber app. You can use it for food or trips.

Yes. It's through the price adjustment in their self help section on the app.

This is not always true. I have had simultaneous requests with and without GCs on separate phones, and prices are very similar. Sometimes not.
Agreed I use my work phone for work uber trips and other than a little difference like cents even for a 60 dollar airport trip they pretty much the same. I book about 100 plus trips a year for the past 6 years and don't see really any difference. I only use gift cards for my personal phone.

sfgate (a click-baity website division of the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper) had an article about price increases from Uber gift cards.

https://www.sfgate.com/travel/art...281408.php

TL;DR was Uber officially denies it despite various perceived examples to the contrary.

So, "Limit of 1 Transaction, with a Maximum of 2 Units Per Membership Every 14 Days" refers to Costco membership? I thought it meant you could only use 2 discounted units every 14 days per Uber membership.

Note: Newbie here. Haven't used Uber before, but am considering it for a unique situation where I will need round trip transportation.

That is not the case at all for me and I used Uber for work and at the same time and the price, would not vary averaged overall. You can test this for yourself. I would test it with my co worker who did not have a gift card and the results never varied more than a few cents.

Ppl saying giftcard increase pricing have no idea what the hell they're talking about. Its against the law to do such and a class action will cause the company millions!

Also giftcard is a very powerful company revenue source. They generate guaranteed revenue, increase spending, boost brand awareness, and improve cash flow.

Go look up Starbucks, their giftcard revenue have so much funding that its like a bank account for them.
