You answered your own question. Obviously this is not legit licenses (keys may work, but are not meant for retail purchase or are meant for certain sectors, not the general public).

worked as described -- Had to uninstalled old version completely using office reset tool

"claims" is the key here. There is no way to verify a MPN ID so they literally can put any number there.

Like I said, the keys you get may activate, but the legality of the license you are buying is what I am saying is not legit. Go look up "Office Standard 2024 for Mac" in the US and tell us what you find. It's not there. Go look up "Office 2024 Professional Pro/Plus" and report back the legality of said product to the general public.

It's ironic that Slickdeals prohibits legit deals for real products from Amazon sellers that don't have a certain number of reviews but they allow the sale of grey market product that clearly isn't legit.

Slickdeals allows "deals from sellers with fewer than required reviews as long as the seller gives them a commission. You can usually tell which of the posted "deals" fall under that condition since it is 99% of the time posted by SD staff

meaning it gives it more validity than amazon resellers will no reviews ( sometimes an indicator or spinning up a new store name to get away from low ratings)

"Better" as in actually legal/legit, or better as in as good a price as the illicit software keys this company is selling? For legit software (which will NEVER be sold for $35), you can look for deals on M365 which covers Mac's and PC's and you get OneDrive cloud storage.

Also, FWIW, the price is now $40, not $35.

A better alternative would be LibreOffice. Free and Open Source software that is a legitimate Office competitor. It's a very mature product now that runs well and can be used completely offline without all the MS bloat.

I might give it a try for my mothers machine, we had office installed on her mac a older version and the key died and I switched her over to office 365 and now it's hell. They have the old UI and the New UI, during the office 365 installed it tells me it can't port over all the old emails and folders and pretty much starts almost fresh. So I import over the stuff she needs from an export trial of office and it seemed to be working until one day the New UI comes out and it says sorry can't import all the content to the new office 365 version. WTH So in order to see the old stuff I have to go into settings and tell it to switch back to the old UI ( but when you do that all the new folders and mail won't appear in it ) so you have to once again turn on the new UI mode and the old folders and mail disappear and the new mail and folders will now appear again. It also shows I have something like 360000 + un read messages and now displays an alert if I want to delete all the old UI content.. Guess yet another outsourced tested product

This is my last reply here as you are unwilling to acknowledge the software is gray market and not legit. Of course the keys will activate as they are real MS keys, just not meant for retail customers, hence the actual license is invalid. If you don't care about owning legal software, they by all means spend your money. You notice their claim for "legitimate and authentic" they don't say to call MS but to call THEM? Laughable.

Again, it's 100% apparent this software is not legit/legal and my claim stands as no one has proven otherwise.
