if so; for a first 3d printer i'd really really recommend a multicolor - when i bought my first (bambu a1 mini without ams) it was really annoying that the add-on to print multicolors was almost as much as the machine itself. after a few months i bought a whole new printer because single color objects didn't cut it anymore. i don't want to paint everyday items - and multicolor prints waste filament during color swaps - but i will never buy another single color machine as my primary
if you want only single color ever - this looks AWESOME
edit: i KNOW 220 vs 400 isn't apples to apples - i just don't want anyone else to do what i did - find out too late that it's waaay cheaper to buy a multicolor combo than to add multicolor capability later.

I'm not sure what to think about the 5X. There is a youtuber who has been one of the big reviews, followers of the 5M. He felt like the 5X hardware was good but was not happy with the software. The nice thing with the 5M is you can use straight up Orca slicer with it. You don't have to use FF's slicer or a FF version of Orca. It sounds like that isn't true with the 5X.
If I was looking at the 5X I might wait to see what more reviewers say. With the 5M, well I've had mine for a year and I've been very happy with it.
I have a 3d printer sitting in my garage for 2 years. 😭

I am going to try to enclose it too. Anyone have experience with that task?

I think FF sells an official kit, or you can go to sites like Thingiverse and download plans that others have made. Honestly, except for the top, you could just about sufficiently enclose this by attaching acrylic directly to the frame, though you'd need to accommodate the protruding screws either by cutting around them or using them as anchors for the sheet. Or line the acrylic with foam tape and just drill holes in it for mounting screws. I may try that myself with some scrap to see how it goes.
I picked this up as a first printer and was thinking about printing the lid this week. FWIW, it's been great out of the box. I set it on a sturdy desk, auto-leveled it, and had my first print within the hour. Do make sure to keep your filament dry, though—I bought a Creality dryer for $30 on eBay at the same time because even slightly damp (20-25% humidity) filament caused some stringing on prints.
