Under Q&A, it states the dash cam has an internal battery for backup power. Be advised that in high heat areas, that battery will likely die out.

We purchased one of these last week and liked it so we purchased a second for our other vehicle. You only need to connect to WiFi if you plan on viewing it from your phone or downloading a video clip. You can get a one time membership that adds extra features (we only got it for the enhanced license plate reader and map/video overlay) for an extra $35.
*You can purchase a membership and use that same log in for another phone to get the extra features, but you can only have one dash cam per device (can't figure out how to add a second camera in the app without it trying to connect to the first dash cam).

Good point. The only time you need Wi-Fi is to review the footage, e g only if an incident occurs. So not something you have to use every day hopefully!

For the Acura RDX, the wire isn't long enough to run a long the front side, down to the carpet and then up again to install the rear camera. In term of night time clarity (front camera), it is not to my satisfaction. I'm still debating whether to keep it. Hopefully there is a good deal on a better camera on Prime day.

that's the long way, most installers tuck it under the headliner to the liftgate.
