This model is the brushed, something to consider if going to use very often or log a lot of hours. 8250 is the one waiting to be on sale or cheaper 😬

Are the brushes user-replaceable? What are the major disadvantages of the brushed vs brushless motors?

Brushed motors typically can't output quite as much power and wear out/degrade faster. If you use this professionally, it will matter. If you will be like me and use it a couple times a year, probably not an issue. Sliding scale in the middle.

I just retired my 20 year old corded dremel. I remember having it since college. I'm 45 years old now. I checked it was made in USA. Anyway, I replaced it w/ a milwaukee version. Considering this as simply an addition to my collection.. what's stopping me is having to charge another type of battery

Good dremel but as someone mentioned is reconditioned... otherwise I'd get one
Maybe put refurbished in the title?

I use the Milwuakee M12 Rotary Tool and round bit with grit sandpaper tube on the lowest speed and it tears thru the calluses and thick nails like nobody's biz.

On a side note: I use my Milwaukee rotary as a frother. It is the only one out there that goes slow enough to not create a disaster.
