Yes, the new firmware does introduce tighter integration with Bambu Lab's cloud services, and for users working with proprietary designs or running commercial print farms, that could raise valid concerns. But for the average hobbyist or even consumer, the impact is practically nonexistent.
Most people just want a printer that works reliably out of the box, and the P1S (even with the latest firmware) delivers that in spades. It's fast, high quality, and incredibly easy to use. The privacy concerns are mostly theoretical for the typical user, and unless you're running air-gapped systems for a reason, you're likely already trusting plenty of devices with similar connectivity.
For most, it's a non-issue.

I'm a OG from the Ender 3 days. A lot has changed and somethings are the same.
Only reason I'm here helping is because I want new 3d printer consumers to know the 3d printing community is Massive, most things are user errors that can be fixed reading the wiki first, then go to the forums/ videos.
3d printing used to be very hands on. These new machines are Workhorses! But it best to teach the basics.

I ordered two A1 Combo printers during the anniversary sale, and they arrived in just two days since they shipped from a Houston warehouse. Each printer included a "free" $5 wind-up boat motor, which feels more like a $0.50 novelty item. Don't let the flashy "free gifts" graphic influence your buying decision too much.
I've had the printer for quite a while now, and it is still running great. One thing I have to be careful of is cleaning the plate. Oils from my hands will cause adhesion problems with print (i.e. the print will move around on the plate and ruin the print). I'm careful of not touching the plate for it to last longer, but eventually I'll need to clean the plate. A quick scrub with soap + water and a soft bristle brush works just fine.
Something else I've run into is with the AMS. If a filament gets "wet," it become brittle and breaks easily. Sometimes a roll of filament is too wet and breaks somewhere inside of the AMS unit. I have to partially disassemble the unit to retrieve the filament. Bambu has video walkthroughs of the entire process to help. If you can, it's helpful to manually feed filament through the tubes to try to push out the broken filament. If it breaks near the hotend, you may need to manually heat up the hotend and hit the feed button in the slicer or control panel to feed the rest of the filament through.
I would highly advise a printer with auto bed leveling to make 3d printing enjoyable.

Cloud is someone else's computer that they control, not you.
As far as this printer: really great and very fast print jobs. We love ours and my kids spend more time printing and less time repairing. It is invaluable for that reason. We do use ours offline as we create our own files and it works fine.
