It says too soon. Is it supposed to start a different date?

I bought one of these a while back. Nice design, but poorly balanced; it vibrates rather strongly and makes more noise than I find tolerable. I may try rebalancing it some day as a project if I'm really bored.

On one side I also thought the fan was much bigger at first glance from the preview but being there wasn't anything to scale the item I would hardly call the picture "deceptive," my mind decided it was larger than it was, the photo didn't suggest size in any way.

Also, the "12 inches" and the "desktop" part should be huge clues it isn't meant to be a shop fan. Also photographic right next to a laptop should be another clue

Keep in mind nowadays, almost all cheap product ad pics are AI generated.

Not sure how that matters, did AI put the fan next to a 747 suggesting it was 50' tall? LOL, nope. It is a "12 inch"...."desktop" fan, AI, or no AI

But please, explain to the class how the photo was "deceptive."

Nothing to be upset about.

The AI generated pics are always lacking in perspective. The laptop and fan don't look in proportion to one another. The depth of field is just way off.

"Nothing to be upset about."

Nothing to project your feelings on to others about.

I only stated there is nothing (literally) to scale the fan against, therefore there is nothing (literally) to be deceiving. If I took a photograph of Honda Civic on a white background, or had AI remove the background, is the car's size going to be deceptively large or small? Are you going to assume the car is 2" tall or as big as godzilla? If so, that is your brain playing tricks, not AI.

LOL, that is all I am saying.

P.S. You don't know if the image was actually created by AI, nor does it even matter*, but for some reason your entire point centered around it. Was the photo also taken on a Wednesday

*Unless of course there was multiple objects in the photo AND which clearly were not to scale. Then your point would actually make sense, but that isn't the case and it doesn't...especially when the fan is called a 12" Sharper Image AXIS 12 Desktop Airbar Tower Fan. Wild guess but it is probably 12" tall and made for a desktop.

I have one of these and even though it is loud, I like it, particularly because it can be put into a vertical orientation which makes it not take up much space on my desk and it hits from my shoulder to my stomach. The flow is narrow and it needs to be within a few feet to be effective. In the low setting, the noise is more than most fans but tolerable (for me). At higher settings, I'll use it after I go for a walk but would not want to hear this all the time.

Can this be aimed/angled? This seems like it may be good for an under-desk fan for cooling off the uhh stuff.

Again, you're taking this discussion in a whole different direction and tone.

eBay, Amazon etc. are filled with poorly done AI images.

It's much cheaper to prompt an AI to add your image of a fan into an "office desktop with an open laptop next to the fan", or some similar prompt, than it is to pay someone to Photoshop an image. Let alone pay a photographer to take actual photos of your product.

I'm honestly not sure why my comment has gotten under your skin the way it has. It wasn't a particularly incendiary remark on my part, AI image generation is just a fact of life on these type of products. If you would rather believe that the image is real, that's fine with me.
