People with compromised immune system, such as cancer patients on chemotherapy, would wear masks.
People who have a cold and still need to run errands, but want to reduce the spread of their illness to others.
People who have high risk factors of hospitalization if they get Covid, such as those over 65 who are not vaccinated, other chronic illness such as asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease, etc.
People who don't know why people would wear such masks:
Unaware, or worse, ignorant, people.
Be aware.

Check the volume of your lungs. Check the volume of air inside a mask. Compare them.
Also, I know how high I can push my heart rate, both peak and sustained. Altitude makes a big difference (my normal hiking realms vary from below sea level to above 11,000'), masks make no difference until I'm at high elevation. And I recently did a cardiac stress test--wearing an N95, performance right where I expected it to be.
Meanwhile, long Covid has overtaken asthma in children. And that's something you can never take off.
Do you put them on like pants?
