Well sir, it is exactly that...price is typically 700-900 for 9070 xt and 850-1000 for 5070 Ti...so the typical $100-$150 price difference (on MSRP, it's $150) with minimal raster performance difference does make 9070 xt worth considering - that is, unless you play many DX11 games, NVIDIA optimized games (which tend to happen pretty often), or ray/path-tracing heavy games. Or if you really want features like DLSS/FG/MFG - NVIDIA still has an upper hand here even considering AMD's FSR 4 has improved a lot. Obviously it's your call if it's worth spending over $100-$150 for that.

TBF though, I wouldn't recommend any of the mid-performance tier cards at these prices - they're all priced terrible.

Got my 9070 XT ASUS model for about $730. Within this price range you're actually getting pretty good frame per dollar! If you watch the most recent 9070 XT tested in X games from Hardware Unboxed they give you some numbers to work with.
AMD drivers have been decent but not the best for me. Elden Ring Nightreign seems to have a driver level crash happen to me every so often. This card runs Oblivion Remaster and MH Wilds faster than a 5070ti so it was a no brainer for me. Just a matter of finding the games you actually play and comparing.

How has your experience been with the open box card? Any issues like coil whine? I have been eyeing that exact model that keeps going in and out of stock on Newegg, but can't quite get myself to pull the trigger.

I would not consider a downgrade from the 9070 XT to the 9070 as a "minor difference." If you were to compare their performance differential by using a chart such as the "GPU Specs Database [techpowerup.com]" from TechPowerUp, you will notice that there is a 10% performance delta between the two.

Ironic you say that since my current PC build utilizes a 6950XT which I've been satisfied w/ (but never considered it to be "overkill") since buying it from Amazon in 2023 for $567 (while it was on sale), but ever since 2010, I would always traditionally build a new PC rig for myself every 5-6 years, so I'm currently in the marke,t sourcing parts for one on a new platform (X870) and I've already bought this 9070XT specifically and this motherboard for the new rig. I consider myself a PC hobbyist and over the years, I've collected numerous parts and still plan to keep my X570 rig which houses my 6950XT.

To be totally honest, I haven't even used the GPU yet; I've only opened the box storing the GPU to inspect its condition. It's a calculated risk I'm willing to bear. My plan was to buy the remaining parts necessary (i.e., CPU, RAM, PSU, and *fans) to complete my PC build before the end of Aug and if I run into any unforeseen issues w/ the GPU I can always contact AsRock customer support. Sorry, I couldn't be any more help regarding your question.

Wow, what a shame. Corporate greed while exploiting a situation (tariffs) to justify profiteering on unsuspecting customers. What's crazy is, I thought I was getting a good deal buying an "open-box" 9070XT for $670, smh.

Just checked both Asus and Gigabytes website. They removed the base model $600 msrp Asus PRIME-RX9070XT-16G and Gigabyte GV-R9070XTGAMING-16GD models completely off the site. So looks like $700 is the new base price.

To me, $120 dollars difference and 100 watts more is not worth the 10%. But to each his own.
