You might want to check out some comparisons between the 5800X and the 5900XT. The performance difference isn't much, and if you're gaming, you'd be much better off with an X3D variant (5800X3D or above).

That would probably depend on your installer and your motherboard and if they support a serial interface or not ... for myself, I've always just connected a cheap video card, installed the OS and then yanked it when done, but if you've got an OS that supports serial interface install and a motherboard that also supports it, you'll be good to go without.

Im pretty dumb so gonna as a dumb question. This wouldn't just slot into a 4 year old PC that has a ryzen 5 chip in it would it?
Download CPU-z to find out what your motherboard and CPU are that you have now. https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

Then you can look up compatibility.

should i upgrade from 3950x to future proof it?
There's no such thing as future proofing. The future always comes. Buy for what you're using in the next two years.

Does it make any sense to upgrade from 3900x? Seems like the sale price for used 3900x on ebay is close to $80-100.

Looking at the acr b570 or b580. The gtx 1650 is not cutting it anymore on 1440.

Bummer, my ASRock b550 MB only supports 5900x, not 5900XT according to the site.

You might want to double-check that. Although the chart can be easy to misread, it appears that EVERY ASRock B550 Mobo can utilize the 5900XT if you flash the BIOS to the appropriate version.

Please hold til payday deal lol. I have a 5800x and this would be a great upgrade for the price versus going am5
I've considered going that route, same CPU. I'm hoping they release 5950X3D 5900X3D
