I don't often go to Subway these days, maybe once or twice a year, but I've generally been happy with the subs I get there, usually their CCC, fully loaded, on flatbread, but sometimes teriyaki chicken if it's on sale. But Subway gets a horrible rap, despite still being around and I assume successful and thus popular. So what's that all about? Why all the hate? Do I just have low standards, or has their quality been going down lately?

That's confusing!....you eat Subway sandwiches once or twice a year, and yet you're questioning whether the quality has declined? What's the point to asking a question and then answering it yourself??🤣

No, I'm asking why so many hate on it as I'm ok with it, and if it's gone down lately. Not that complicated. shake head

Watch the episode "Subway vs Jersey Mike's" from Mythical Kitchen on YouTube. But basically, the other sub chains have fresher, better tasting ingredients, especially the breads and meats. That said, Subway probably gives you the most bang for the buck with these coupon deals. The previous deal was B1G1 for $1, so I'd get a footlong meatball and footlong grilled chicken sub for $10 total...that's some mid-2000s $5 footlong pricing right there.

As with all franchised chains, the quality can vary significantly between locations. My local Subway is pretty good. I don't eat fast food very often though (0-3x/mth) so I am not the connoisseur that some are. Big Grin As a company, their revenue has been slowly climbing year-over-year and their closing of locations has slowed, but they're not killing it like they were in the early 2000s.

When they start putting 1 oz of meat on their sandwiches, let me know.

To add - their bread also has a ridiculous amount of sugar in it. Their franchising practices are also questionable and they overload the market. I would also suggest watching John Oliver's Last Week Tonight story about Subway to get some extra insight. At the end of the day, it is fast food...and has the third most locations of any fast food chain worldwide. You'll likely find better quality sandwiches at your Potbelly, Jersey Mike's, Firehouse Subs, or even Jimmy John's; but your best bet would be to go to a local sub/sandwich shop where you'll likely get better ingredients, more meat/toppings, and at a better price!

The sad thing or pathetic thing about Subway is for a "sub shop" they don't even know the most elementary steps in making a sandwich! I always have to tell them how to make it as the employees aren't trained and the "assembly line" layout is backwards! Mayonnaise & Mustard should be applied to the bread first and then spread out. You don't glop it on last on top of the toppings, it's NOT dressing! Other places know this elementary steps, just not subway!

Not sure but it has always been mayo and mustard after placing the meat.

Bought 2 foot long chicken sandwiches at Subway yesterday with the BOGO $1. Holy crap it was the tinest sandwich I've ever seen. 1 tiny piece of meat in the ENTIRE sandwich. It's too bad I didn't have time to go back and complain. With the filth and rip off of these Subway franchises, I am never going back again.

Quiznos subs was the best when I only tried them once ever. Then subway became the standard...
