Instapots can be more versatile as it has the stainless steel inner pot. However, this Cuckoo is more specialized for rice cooking. Although you can, technically use it for other food types similar to Instapot, it's probably not recommended. This brand is one of, if not, the most popular brand in South Korea.

Because of the size. Some people prefer their counter tops to be manageable. 6 cups are usually more popular and fits a family of 4 perfectly.

Is pressure or induction better for a rice cooker?

Pressure and induction are two separate dimensions of a rice cooker. Both are good to have but if I had to pick one, I'd go with pressure.

Why would the MSRP of 6 cup (259.99) be higher than 10 cup(199.99) version?
You are correct - the msrp's are incorrect on the Amazon website. If you go to the manufactures website, you can see the msrp is $20 higher on the 10 cup. It would not make any sense otherwise.

Sorry to follow-up here, although its not a pressure cooker replacement - u could technically use the steam basket to cook a protein like a chicken thigh or pork belly at the same time - any experiences here with how well that turns our thank sto the steam function?

Question for rice experts: Does the Cuckoo 3 cup model employ the same cooking technology, i.e. should I expect the same excellent results from this smaller machine?

Thanks!

Thanks!

No because that machine is not pressure based

As rice is my staple food 30+ years .. my word of advice should you take it .. pressure cooking rice to save time is the worst idea and the only better way I see and learn is to allow it the time it takes to cook in a normal rice cooker or open pot cooking.. it's your food and it's what fuels you. Don't believe psi trash AFAIK it's for tires not rice!!

I was close to pulling the trigger on this one, but many reviews mention the inner pan not lasting long (even when properly used) along with it not being ideal for longer grain white rice varieties. Back to waiting on a great deal for a Zojirushi. Our current one is still going strong after 23 years but the inner pot is finally showing signs of wear (and I cannot replace it).

I have a similar Cuckoo. The rice is amazing. Keep in mind that using the optional pressure feature results in a chewier grain, which I love. The manual is poorly organized and poorly translated, however. To get the most out of the rice cooker expect to spend more time than usual with the manual.

I say just buy it and enjoy it, and when Zoji is available, get that and give this one away.

I got this a few months ago - after wanting one of these for over a decade. This is a great price. If you're discerning about rice, you need this. If you have any Korean in your ancestry.. it's a requirement. A bonafide Cuckoo is part of the culture. Don't get a Cuckoo that is cheap because they're not made in Korea and don't make the distinct voice-chimes at different stages of the rice production.
