Think the lowest was $20? Or maybe this.

Either way get the demo first. Something is off with this game

I made the mistake of buying this game after playing the demo. Starts really strong and ends strong but everything in-between is trash.

It takes a while to get going in this game. I mean at least 15hrs to get to a point where it's enjoyable. My biggest gripe with the game is there's a boat load of cut scenes, honestly 20% gameplay and 80% cut scenes. The story, characters and in game politics are fantastic if you allow yourself to get immersed into the game.

This is Final Fantasy in name only. Nothing about this game felt like Final Fantasy. Anyone who says something like, "Well, what does a Final Fantasy feel like?" isn't a real fan. Final Fantasy games have a very distinctive feel to them. The characters are all unique and have little quirks and the story is generally actually interesting. I've beaten almost every game. This had the worst characters. Clive is an extremely generic/boring knight-type protagonist. He's the most boring lead character this series has ever had. Jill is beyond bland, and might as well have just been a chambermaid. Cid wasn't anywhere near as cool as other Cids. Every character was just so lame. The performance of the game was awful, too. Idk if they've fixed it, but the framerate was all over the place when I played it. It was only ever a consistent 60fps during fights. Outside of fights, it fluctuated constantly. I hope this series gets back on track someday, because it was my all time favorite, up through 12. 15 was a much better game than this, and actually felt like a Final Fantasy, even though that was also a weak game.

I don't know when I will play it. Too many backlogs.

Final Fantasy May Cry.
This is the worse game in the series. Button masher with a dry story. It's a chore to play this as you're just hitting square for hours

Worse than 15? I feel like I understand exactly what you are saying about how the game feels. I guess I'll wait till it hits ps plus at some point before I try it. Thank you for your post.

I'll go ahead and add my two cents by saying there are worse games at this price point. I would say that perhaps this is an evolution of the franchise and might not please some purists. It's not my favorite in the series but I've definitely paid more for worse gaming experiences.

+1, this should have been a side FF game instead of a mainline game.

My hope is that once the FF7 remake trilogy is over, that team will make the next FF mainline game. That's a combat and level design system that was meant for an FF game, not the "we have Devil May Cry at home" we got for this mainline game

I enjoyed this game. It's worth it at $25. I thought it was a good game, with some occasional frustrations with gameplay. I liked the story. I had trouble going back to the dlc after completing the main game however. I played one but did not play the other. There are indeed a lot of cutscenes.

Try Final Fantasy: Stranger of Paradise instead.
I was really trying to enjoy this one, but 5 hours in nothing clicked.
