The price didn't go up, the value of your dollar went down. The real question is, who got the buying power when it was taken away from you?

Dang. I got the Wingman back in 2013 for $22. Didn't realize the price had gone up so much. I don't recall if mine came with a pouch, always pocket carry. Comes in handy although I'm a fan of plain blades for ease of sharpening.

my local Walmart was clearancing out Leatherman waves about six years ago and I picked up 3 of them for $25 apiece but left a 4th because the package was busted open. What an idiot I was, I should've grabbed it anyway there was nothing wrong with it.

The Leatherman Rev was $30 @Costco in Jan, currently $40 @Amazon [amazon.com]
I grabbed the one from Costco back then and it really not worth it. The Harbor Freight for $10 more is way better.

Like many, got the Wingman back in 2013 for sub $20. The biggest surprise has been that I haven't lost it yet.
Excellent quality...price as nearly tripled though, even on the Wingman.
Can't do much about that now but if you need something that will last a few decades, it's a decent investment even at this price currently.

Agree Rev is useless. i bought a few years ago to be sent out as the company's white elephant. left a couple of them, as useless as MUT, util one day you forget clean up your piece.

There's this really cool market called "used" where you actually refrain from owning the latest and newest things.

I respect that companies line Leatherman have not sacrificed quality. Unfortunately, in doing so they've had to price a lot of us casually interested folks out of the market for their products.
You could buy this once to use for the next 20 years or buy a those cheap walmart ones in the camping section and use it for 2 seasons before it breaks. You still pay either way.

FYI, as these are on sale direct from LTC, multiple other vendors also have these available at these prices, for example MidwayUSA, B&H Photo, etc. So, you may be able to find a better deal if you have rewards points somewhere, or have a cashback app that supports those sites.

MidwayUSA also has the Rev for $39.95:

Not true. Leatherman has become boujee. These tools are made in the USA. Regardless of what the dollar has done, pricing for Leatherman tools has gone up because they realized they can't make enough money off people that use them the most.
Now they instead market mainly to people who will buy as a "nice to have", rather than a "need to have." In other words, they're now marketing to hipsters who are willing to spend more money for something they'll likely not use to its potential.
