Isn't Prime Day usually just inflated prices that are then discounted to trick the non-bargain hunters?

Nope. I got a 55" QLED Fire TV for $99.

Mostly yes, but there are few good deals if you're fast enough

I could see this being useful for someone that needs something on the smaller end and doesn't care about resolution (small display board, cable/TV antenna channels). But I really don't get why you'd buy this when 4k TVs are the same price for around the same size or bigger. This doesn't even make sense as a computer monitor because 1080p at 40" isn't very good.

This 43" Pioneer is $10 more and 4k:

Don't get me wrong. I think a lot of cheap 4k TVs do a terrible job of upscaling 720p/1080i/1080p content, and they can't display HDR properly, so for many people the extra resolution is useless or even worse in terms of PQ. However, at least with the 4k displays, at this size they would be good as computer monitors should that possibility arise.
