This is a different product. OP listed the pro plaque
My bad, you're right
Nerding out about toothpaste ingredients really isn't a beneficial use of a dentist's time. The people that care about new ingredients and formulations are non-dentists with specific problems they want to treat, scientists at universities and companies, and researchers at dental schools. Yeah, they want to make new products to sell for more money, but sometimes those products are actually good.
Nobody argues that Sensodyne (5% potassium nitrate) is just some fluoride toothpaste that doesn't help with sensitivity. A lot of people out there seek out and find benefit from Novamin and >10% nano hydroxyapatite. The amino acid formulations in some toothpastes are actually different formulations and have clinical researching backing their claims in being more beneficial for gum disease than the other toothpastes in their product lines.
It's not really being nit-picky, there's actual SDers out there that are looking for deals on Crest Pro Health Advanced Gum Restore and Colgate Total Plaque Pro Release because they have gum disease and have been using standard Crest Pro Health and Colgate Total for years until they tried these new toothpastes and had their gum measurement numbers actually improve. At least I'm one of them.
You're right, it's a variation
