Different "branding" from the same company but ultimately, you're paying for a stannous fluoride toothpaste in both cases.

Actually not the same, the "Plaque Pro Release" line has arginine which is not listed as an active ingredient but has been shown in a lot of studies to have beneficial effects, namely making the pH more alkaline which helps to reduce plaque hence the name. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/arti...MC2742966/

Deal seems to be dead for me though, I don't have the coupon.

If you want to be nit-picky about it, sure but I'm also sure >99% of dentists will agree that both products are essentially the same.

There's a much better deal for a 4 pack of 5.1 oz tubes for $6.42 with 15% S&S, which is only .33 per oz vs .73!

While there may be better $/ounce deals, this size is good for air travel. I just ordered and the total came to $2.20 now!

I'm married to a dentist, and they really are not nit-picky because most dentists are not academics or nerds, they spend the majority of their time making money by fixing messed up teeth and gums. Nowadays they don't even care if you're a fluoride truther, because they don't want to argue with you and it ultimately means more $$$ for them if do things to mess up your mouth.

Nerding out about toothpaste ingredients really isn't a beneficial use of a dentist's time. The people that care about new ingredients and formulations are non-dentists with specific problems they want to treat, scientists at universities and companies, and researchers at dental schools. Yeah, they want to make new products to sell for more money, but sometimes those products are actually good.

Nobody argues that Sensodyne (5% potassium nitrate) is just some fluoride toothpaste that doesn't help with sensitivity. A lot of people out there seek out and find benefit from Novamin and >10% nano hydroxyapatite. The amino acid formulations in some toothpastes are actually different formulations and have clinical researching backing their claims in being more beneficial for gum disease than the other toothpastes in their product lines.

It's not really being nit-picky, there's actual SDers out there that are looking for deals on Crest Pro Health Advanced Gum Restore and Colgate Total Plaque Pro Release because they have gum disease and have been using standard Crest Pro Health and Colgate Total for years until they tried these new toothpastes and had their gum measurement numbers actually improve. At least I'm one of them.
