I just stick a benzomatic torch underneath the charcoal for about 30 sec and let it run and it will fire up. Nothing extra needed.

I got it from home depot for 150$ back in January. But it was still 500$ at all the other locations a month later. Works good. Your not limited to using a masterbuilt starter cube to get the auto ignite going, those tumbleweed starters work just as good. Fuel efficiency is pretty decent and you can go as low as 250°f i belive. Haven't used it really since using it the first few times to play around with it. Did some ribs and a pork butt and a couple tritips. Smoke flavor was a little heavier than I'm used to. I use Traegers for most of my cooks. Got it up to 600°f+ to sear the tritips, but didn't quite have the same effect as a cast iron or open flame. If you can find it cheaper, it gets the job done.

Oh yeah, the cover for the charcoal basket is cast iron and can be used to sear as well.

same... got the more expensive one and the control board stopped working manually, i could set it from app only.. less than a year old i reached out to them several times and they would not honor the warranty they were rude.. i am original owner purchased directly from their website from a slick deal here about 2 years ago
will never buy from them again because of lack of customer service

I have the 800 smoker and it is great. The electronics can get a little buggy but the flavor is amazing from charcoal. Much better than wood pellets. My only complaint is there is no reminder or sensor to refill the hopper.

Decent for the price but don't expect it to last long. Masterbuilt is bottom of the barrel for quality. I had a different model and the electronics failed twice, then the grill walls eventually crumbled away. Lasted 3 years.

How is this in comparison to the Gravity series? I love my Gravity grill, but it needs a new one soon.

Apparently the build quality is much better with the XT model, but then the price went way up. Maybe this type of smoker can't be both high quality and affordable 🤷

Agreed. On my 3rd gravity 560, just replaced parts last month also. Never confident of it will work and positive the wifi will go out multiple times during the cook.
