IMO no real reason to get this over the 85" QN90C available for $1399 at Best Buy

Who makes the qn9dc model? These 85-in just keep getting cheaper and cheaper. I'm hoping to pick up a mini LED for around 1200.

Grabbed this open box for $1,270 out the door. Fantastic TV, watching The Wiz in 4k on it right now

The QN90C doesn't support Dolby Vision or DTS, while the QM8 does. The QM8 also has better contrast and motion handling. The biggest reason someone would want the QM8 over the QN90C is because the QM8 is MUCH brighter than the Samsung, so it's a much better option for rooms with a lot of natural light. The QM8 has 5,000 nits peak brightness, while the QN90C is 1,700 nits peak brightness. The QN90C is still plenty bright enough for most people, but the QM8 will still have better highlights, etc in HDR. It's objectively a better TV.

Been waiting for a deal on this for so long... very tempted to pull the trigger. Will it go lower?

Well it's only $100 more than the March slick deal and that was for the 2023 model.

This or S90D from Costco 77 in. Would prob cost me like $1,850 with 5 year warranty because I have to buy something else.

I have the Hisense 100 U8K (2023) and this TCL 85QM8. The build quality(thinner) and the picture is much better on the TCL. Hisense has 2 year warranty compared to 1 year for TCL. I know you are asking about the U8N (I've seen at Best Buy store on display) which is a 2024 improved version over the U8K but overall, I'd still pick this TCL model over the Hisense.

It can be dark it can be bright. Curtains play there part. The only difference I see is that one is 77in and the other one is 85 in one has ok brightness and the QM8 has a lot but the highlights are still the same Samsung manages them pretty well. One is Oled and the other one is not I know that Mini led if you set it up well it can have pretty good contrast at the end the size the motion handling and the 3d effect of the image is what I am looking for. I can't decide between them I wish I could have them side by side to make the better choice.

If it's any consolation I purposely have a 77" LG C3 OLED in the basement and I have a 65" QM8 in the living room. Factors that made me choose the QM8 were:
  1. Window directly behind the couch
  2. Static content galore. Wife constantly leaves the tv on, so no burn-in worry.
  3. A toddler and newborn. We're just watching Miss Rachel and Elmo for the foreseeable future.
Also, I almost bought the recent 85" QN90D Samsung QLED that was posted a week or two ago to upsize the living room and move the QM8 into our master bedroom. Still regretting it but I'll have two in daycare soon haha. So, even after having the LG OLED for a year now, I still preferred size and brightness over (what I believe) to be slightly better picture.
