i have concerns over blocks with built-in sharpeners... every time i sharpen anything, even minimally - there are still residual tiny bits of metal on the blade that i doubt a magnet would remove - i assume that the (very tiny amount) of metal shavings embed in whatever food it's cutting?

Same concern here when i bought another set from another brand years ago with the built in sharpener so I did a quick rinse before each use.

This is a very good deal. The important knives are forged german steel , the steak knives are stamped which I'm ok with at this price. In for 1.
