That's a great screen and decent performance! If you're someone not interested in picture quality and run it off a monitor i think the 5080 is for 1500$~ so that would be a great choice too (it is 145w variant) so not capped by wattage

Difference between this and the Walmart deal with 5070 Ti from a week or so ago? Does the newer CPU make a huge difference? Assuming this system has easily upgrading RAM. I've been watching the HP deals but Lenovo has a reputation of way better thermals, because what's the point of a high powered system if it's throttled

Compare with current HP OMEN 7/4 on sale price with the same specs, Lenovo is so expensive.

The reviews about the thermals on HP laptops are much more negative. From my experience the thermal performance is critical, buying high-end hardware isn't worth it if it's throttled the entire time.

Depends on what HP product is. OMEN MAX is ok. OMEN is not so great with the thermal concern. We purchased OMEN MAX 16 while on sales adding 2x 32GB memory running ok so far.

Not deal breaking enough to warrant being 30%-50% more expensive

If you have a good thermal solution to overcome the poor OEM thermals then sure. At that point, just buy the 5090 version for a bit more than this laptop. IMO that's the best value.

The Omen 5080 for around 1250 was the best bang for the buck. And the thermals do not suck on the Omen. They are better on the Lenovo though.

I guess it depends on what workloads. For gaming, sure. I am searching for my next laptop to run non-AI CUDA workloads with the best performance.
