I have couple of these and use it across PS4 and PS5… never noticed a 3rd party controller message. Works wirelessly and has a good weight/build to it.

Spent some time looking through the reviews and I'll have to pass, even though it's enticing.

Some things I've gathered from the reviews/description that are dealbreakers for me:

seems like a few people have connection issues that cause the controller to disconnect every few minutes. Not a large number but some people said it was working fine and then stopped working after a while which is not something I want to risk if warranty expires. I can't think of an official Sony controller I've owned that ever had connectivity issues.
Rumble only works on PS4/PS4 games. On PS5, you don't have rumble, or haptics or adaptive triggers that you'd get on an official Sony controller. It's such a small thing but I sometimes replay games on PS5 that I played on PC and the haptics/adaptive triggers on the DualSense really make games feel more immersive and fun, especially the rumble. I don't think these missing features will affect competitive games much but I love playing Sony exclusives because they make great use of the dualsense features.
~25% of the photo reviews (4 out of 25) showed buttons nearly completely faded after only a few months. Factoring in how most reviews you see are when someone first gets a product, I have to assume this will affect all controllers. And being able to see the buttons isn't really a concern for people buying this controller who are probably more hardcore gamers, it's still not great to see for something that's almost 2x the price of a standard controller, especially when it might turn into a secondary controller when it's older and a guest using it might not be familiar with the playstation layout.

Good research. It may be better to stick with DualSense Edge Pro which gets updates a few times a year.

Biggest issue with these third party controllers is that sony will not allow them to have rumble or adaptive triggers

If you decide you want one of these and you feel like taking a gamble, the Open Box price for Excellent condition is $67.99 on Best Buy, although there are currently none available. I picked one up at some point and it looked basically brand new but ymmv.
