you can just choose to run without activating it. not sure what activation gets you at this point other than windows telling you it's not activated.

IIRC (it's been a while) customization and some "features" are limited when unactivated.

Legit is in the eye of the beholder. Been using keys like this for years, no problems. I last bought one about four months ago for a little under ten bucks. Works great. Also running copies of Office going back several years.

Also, I have run several installs where I don't bother with activation at all. Windows works fine, you just have to put up with a watermark that tells you to activate and can't do a few noncritical features like custom wallpapers.

I've used these multiple times and never had an issue or one become inactivated. Worst case scenario, you have to buy another 10$ key in a few years. You can use the official M$ installer and this key during installation.

That is WAAAY safer than using a cracked or pirated version of Windows.

Been using these grey market keys for many years without issue. It's probably not 100% ethical, but neither is everything Microsoft does so I'm not too worried about it.

I mean they do basically let you use it for free without a key, you just lose personalization and some chance they don't push security updates at all or as fast.

I'll risk the 10 bucks to have Windows 11 pro and not worry about either of those things.

That's why people don't pirate windows versions, they use an official windows installer and use MassGrave to activate. Which is open source so all the code available to view. You are welcome to buy shady keys but MassGrave is 100% safe.

Much of what MassGrave is doing is Illegal according to M$ ToS. Not that anyone is coming after home users either way. Bypassing activation servers seems worse than using them and providing a grey market key.

If it ever came down to it, I'd prefer my defense to be "Look I paid for a Windows license, here's my receipt and key" versus "I used an known illegal method for activating Windows".

That's my two cents, it's worth the 10 bucks to me to be able to claim ignorance in that I purchased a key. I doubt M$ cares that much either way, after all the MassGrave code is hosted on GitHub which they own.

I had a retail box version of Windows 10 that I bought and paid for at retail price back in the day for a build (paid big bux for the version). After doing a major upgrade the serial would not activate. I tried everything including attempting to contact M$ directly. Every attempt failed. They wanted me to buy another big bux retail version. I said, screw them, they got my money and I should be able to use the product that I paid for. So finally in desperation I bought one of the grey keys such as one in this thread and now I'm using the product that I paid (twice) for. They are the ones whose conscience should be bothered, not me.
