Go to Amazon to see knock off filters and there reviews. Elite filters by Brita are rated for lead, so make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Standard Brita filters do not remove lead. Though in theory your water supply should be very low levels per gov. regulations.

Have used Brita for years now. PLEASE consider a water purifying pitcher instead of buying plastic water bottles! 🙏🏻

Yeah, regular price at Costco is $12.50 when purchased in a 4-pack. I grabbed one for the filter, and I'll use the extra pitcher for bird seed or something.

For a single filter or even a 2-pack (per filter) it's less.

My next goal is to find a Brita-compatible pitcher that's glass.

I don't get it... Remove the chemicals, but replace them with microplastics.

Sure, we might learn more in the future about the harm of microplastics.

However, the harm from lead poisoning is scientifically known to cause immensely significant problems to people.

And, do you know that your drinking water never runs through plastic lines, ever.

Plastic supply lines are used all over in new construction ; apartment/condo buildings, single family, commercial and restaurant. You're getting plastics elsewhere.

IIRC, they were even used in California due to their ability flex and survive without rupture in an earthquake. Fewer ruptures, the sooner pressurized supply can be restored.

worrying about microplastics is a losing battle at this point, we're all incredibly saturated with them no matter what you do. take care where you can, but it's one of those things not worth bending over backwards to stress too much about, IMO.

protip: use the pitcher to filter your water, don't eat the jug.

ConsumerLab has done tests and the Brit's doesn't add microplastic and seems to remove them. The ZeroWater filters do apparently add microplastic.
