the only difference I can see is the style of the front panel.
the specs are exactly the same, and they use the same filter

I'm in the process of making my own using a fan and 1" thick Merv 12 or 13 furnace filters. I want to remove ultra fine particles.
Hah, same brother. Got a few filters arriving tomorrow 20x25x4 to Jerry rig to my vornado! Went merv 13, then some cheaper merv 8 prefilters I can switch out more often. These plastic ones make me think of Frank Reynolds with his white wig critiquing the art gallery. Derivative!

In SE and northern lower Michigan, the amount of outside air particlate is staggering during all seasons and while there's no way to avoid it outside, don't want to breath inside also.

I have switched out most of my Winix units to the 1512HH due to 3 issues with Winix:

1) all started making noise after a year or two (disassembly didn't help as it was in the motor)
2) the UV turns on every time you turn the unit on
3) the unit does not turn itself back on after a power flicker (very common in my older neighborhood)

The Coway, although more expensive, solved all these issues for me.

The coway doesn't make the annoying high pitched coil whine? My Winix don't but I just returned 3 purifiers in a row because of it. Was just going to get another winix but the coway looks good.

If ComEd is your energy provider this should qualify for a $50 Energy Star rebate. I did this twice last year when I ordered the C909 from Costco and both were filled. Worth checking your provider in case they have similar program.

I have C545 and my AIrthings keeps warning me about high CO2. I have two plants in the office, so I always thought they should help clean the air in addtition to Winix but can't get rid of CO2, but I am wondering if that's due to plasma generation on these air purifiers? Is it the little "P" icon? I can turn that off in mine, how about these like 5510?Costco has C909 is it any better?https://www.costco.com/ProductDis...=100842491I don't see it on that website, is this supposed to be same as different model #?Honestly this 5510 looks identical to my C545 which used to go on sale many times at Costco. I think only difference is the carbon filter vs carbon mesh, interior seems same?I just don't want to pay more for minimal performance increase due to different filter. I also want to buy at least 3 for different rooms to run 24/7 . Slow speed when we are not home, faster speed when we are home and slow again at night.
You need ventilation for CO2, not filtration. Or live in a literal greenhouse. Plasmawave doesnt have any impact on co2

I was going to make the same comment. I've dropped Winix as their customer service sucks and the products are made for planned obsolescence. I've had 7 units that all developed significant shrill/screeching coil whine noises after warranty expires. As you mention, you cannot turn them off via a Zwave or other smarthome method during peak energy hours as they will not turn on. The Coways are better in every way. Levoit is also not bad.

What are some recommended filter replacements for this unit?
