I've had this device for over 15 months and it's been a game-changer for my 120 mile RT commute to San Diego 3 days per week. I use it on a 2022 Corolla Hybrid which is one of the most compatible cars with Comma (full start/stop). I've also used it on the occasional trip up to Northern California and it's been a god-send. I occasionally use it on my wife's 2019 Pilot as well as I bought an extra harness and power supply. For a long-distance commute, it really does take the edge off of driving. I find myself arriving at home and at work so much more relaxed. The benefit of my commute is it's mostly 50 miles of open driving on the I-5. I sit in the 3rd lane at 70mph and just let it do it's thing. A bit of traffic in the Carlsbad area is easily handled and cannot recommend this device enough.

Ya this isn't a product you wait for... Every freeway mile without it could be sooo much better. I bought at $3k and not one part of me wishes I waited.

I have been eyeing this device for a while - and the YouTube videos, especially when you use some of the beta software, are impressive. Just the fact that I don't have to nudge my steering wheel every 10 seconds is priceless. However, many states, including mine, restrict use of windshield mounted devices - and this device is pretty big and has to be mounted in the center below the rear view mirror. That is probably a no-no in many states. Please check before buying this.

I was googling to find a link to show you which states have restrictions- and here is a link found — https://rammount.com/blogs/produc...a2iY6pa54s
Hope you find this informative. Cheers!

I'm really tempted to buy this. My commute is long and this would help. Only problem is that the longevity of this platform is extremely unclear. It's no fault of the developers, but sadly it is what it is. A lot of newer models are encrypting their radar/in-car data communications, and so the list of compatible options is shrinking (fast).. The sweet-spot seems to be cars in the 2019 to 2022 model years. But that's too narrow a range.

My current car is compatible, but what happens once I sell it in say 1-2 years? If I was buying a car today, and I knew it was compatible I would buy this in a heartbeat. This is not a lot of money during the lifetime of the car. But I can't get myself to buy something for say $1000, knowing it'll probably become a paperweight in just a few years (when I buy a new car). If by the time we come to 2028 model year, there are only a couple of compatible models left, it's not really a practical option.

This looks to be such a cool device and reviews are so glowing. It's such a shame that can't get myself to buy this with that baggage of uncertainty.

I read the developers are working with car manufacturers to license it to companies that cannot do this development on their own. I think that's going to be the only practical option for this product category to survive.

Probably relatively slowly... Debate will be how much time do you want to wait while not being able to use the product.
China already copied it and now is making a better one.

Thanks for posting this! Mine was delivered two weeks ago, so it's still in the return window. I've opened a ticket to see if I can get a price adjustment. If not, I'll re-buy and return.
Sorry, can't do that since they're really picky.

Doesn't support any of my vehicles, or else I would be all over this... Would love to try it.

If your car doesn't have supported blind spot sensors, turning on your turn signal will cause it to crash into the car next to you. Seems like a great idea but so many of the supported cars seem to be safety incomplete. It does seem a bit niche.

Yeah I was about to say, couldn't you just buy this and your car pushes an update one day and it stops working?

no need to feel bad. they don't allow returns for price reasons anyway. (they will return the lower amount paid)

Break it down by vehicle miles travelled and see if it makes sense.
I used to commute 70 miles each way (largely highway) and I originally bought The Comma 2 for $1099 and they launched the Comma 3 for $2199 in the return period. I bitched and moaned the entire five weeks after returning the 2 and waiting for the 3 to show up.
I run a fork called SunnyPilot and have the driver assist engaged 100% of the time and it's great.

Most newer cars do have encryption which is a problem for the device. Even well compatible cars from a couple of years ago (Toyota) are no longer compatible because of encryption on the newer cars. I have not heard of an instance of a car becoming incompatible because if a firmware/software push. My guess is the effort would be high to mitigate the small risks and not worth it.

My 3 year trial with super cruise is almost up so I was excited that my car was on the list, but this device doesn't seem to work with cars that have super cruise. Oh well maybe in the future it will work.
