Remove/hide personalized deals from front page

472 144 July 2, 2025 at 08:40 AM
Wasn't this fixed years ago? Why is it back again?

"Personalized deals" sounds like deals that don't belong on the front page, but for some reason, the site decided to scatter some random posts, making it difficult to see what's legitimately popular. There should be no deals showing up on the front page unless it's good enough to show up on the front page for everyone.

Yeah, I came here to say this.

I'm afraid to click on things now for fear of getting "personalized deals" pegged to the FP just because I clicked on some random thing out of curiosity.

Guess I'll have to start opening deals in incognito windows to get around this.

Annoying.

You can remove the "Just for You" section just click on personalize front page and untick show just for you . you can also toggle what you like and dislike on the left side by moving the slider left or right (see attached photos )

They're' not talking about the Just for You page.

They're talking about the MANY "Personalized" ADS mixed in with the front page deals.

It makes the Front Page extremely difficult and frustrating to use. Now you have to pay extra close attention to avoid the ads. Because, of course, "Personalized" is in small, low-contrast print.

Making it worse is it's not new deals. I've already seen most of them and not shown an interest.

Please remove this bullshit ASAP. Making reading the site stressful will drive me away.

This is actually worse than the Boost ads that cover one third of the screen. At least I can block those using an ad blocker.

This is the kind of crap that will boost income short term, but long term will drive people away. Someone's trying to hit those quarterly numbers at the expense of sustainable long-term growth.

Yes, and frankly, it's inane that we're even discussing this. Why have something called "Just for You" and "Personalized"? Is there supposed to be a difference?

Yeah, Zanthexter is correct. I already have the "Show just for you deals" unchecked. Yet, I still get random FP posts intermixed with "real" FP posts labeled as "Personalized." I can track that personalization down to the posts I've clicked on in the past because it was just a one off thing—not something I'd ever really be interested in purchasing, yet here we are and I'm getting "Personalized" ads because of it.

I'm happy there is now a "promoted" tag distinguishing ads from "real" FP posts, so that's actually good.

But "Personalized" ones have gotta go (one way or another) or else I'm just going to start clicking on everything in incognito/private in an attempt to avoid it.

It's kinda reminding me of a tweet from a few years ago:

"Dear Amazon, I bought a toilet seat because I needed one. Necessity, not desire. I do not collect them. I am not a toilet seat addict. No matter how temptingly you email me, l'm not going to think, oh go on then, just one more toilet seat, I'll treat myself."

This stuff is really making me angry because it's interfering with my deal browsing.

It's like somebody interrupting you over and over and over again.

I cannot say enough that this is a terrible idea. I would settle for the option to disable it, but it really needs to be removed.

The ads all over the site are a problem too. But like I said, I can block most of those and tolerate the rest. This is not something I can tolerate.

First, thank you all for your questions and feedback. At present, we have a few different ways in which you may see deals on the home page that are labeled as personalized or otherwise shown specifically to you in our default web-based view of the site based on your preferences and/or browsing history.

There are definitely a couple of outstanding issues that need to be addressed with regards to the "Personalize Frontpage" settings on the home page.
  1. In at least Firefox, the slider button on the Category preferences is not as visible as it should be
  2. The option for "Show Just For You Deals" is not working consistently for all users
If you have the "Show Just For You Deals" option unchecked, the intent is that you will not see the row of "Just For You" personalized deals at the top of the homepage nor will you see deals selected for you with the "Personalized" badge mixed in with the Frontpage deals unless you have other personalization preferences for Stores or Categories set to "Like". For some users, having that "Show Just For You Deals" option unchecked will still allow for the Personalized deals to be shown among the Frontpage deals even if no other Frontpage personalization settings are set. This will be addressed as soon as possible and we'll work on providing an update to this thread when that change goes out.

All users that have any Category or Store preferences set to "Like" in their Personalize Frontpage settings will likely see deals with the "Personalized" badge mixed in with the Frontpage deals based on those settings.

As a workaround for the moment, if you have the "Show Just For You Deals" setting unchecked, and you do not have any other Frontpage personalization settings set, but you are seeing undesired "Personalized" deals among the Frontpage deals, you can set one or more Category preferences in the Personalize Frontpage settings to "Dislike" and that should prevent those deals from appearing after a refresh.

Any time you make a change to the preferences in the Personalize Frontpage menu, make sure you also click on the "Save Preferences" button.
