I'm not sure if this is YMMV, but if you use the promo code GETKINDLE15, you could get an additional 15% off. Not sure if this is combinable with the trade-in deal.

Note, I purchased the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Bundle - https://slickdeals.net/f/18420742-deal-of-the-day-for-prime-members-kindle-paperwhite-signature-edition-elevate-your-reading-experience-188-97
Subtotal was $188.97. 15% off discount was $37.80 and Kindle Trade-in discount was $30.23, which ended up being $120.94 before tax. In the end, it was a 36% discount, which was more than I expected, but the math is a little funky. I'm pretty sure what happened is that the 15% was based on the non-sale price (The "Buy new" price of $251.97) and the 20% off was based on the post-15%-off-discount price, so my guess is that for the Kindle Scribe the price would be $176.79 ($259.99 x 0.8 x 0.85).
Thanks for the detailed reply, that's really interesting. I think I'm going to go ahead and trade in a 10" fire tablet I have that is worth $25 now, which says it will add 20% instantly to my account. I'm not sure if I want to buy anything, but my many other extra devices have dropped down to $5 trade-in value over the last year, and they were already sitting unused when I could've traded them in for much more before. I have enough devices of various kinds that I think I'll always have something on hand to use for the 20% off, so I want to grab the $25 value while I can.

So If i do this, add the 20% trade without an item even in my cart, that should still work with your process, do you think? I'm not sure I want the new device given all the hassle people have had with yellow bars and whatnot, and the fact I enjoy my 2021 model, but damn, I love a deal and once I trade that tablet I'll have 20% just sitting in my account, taunting me, lol.

Added: forgot to ask, the charging dock that comes in the bundle, does it show it as a separate item you can return? And for how much money? I have no desire for that dock, it would sweeten the deal considerably if I returned that dock.

So you got the 20% off and the 15% off? Did you click the link for trade in on the Scribe product page, or did you go to the trade-in page, get your 20% added, and then go get the Scribe? What did the price come to?
Didn't try the 15%. Got the 32gb for $223.99 pre-tax with 20% trade-in

Yup. The charging dock and cover were separate line items shown during checkout. Each showed their respective total after the discount.I don't remember the amount anymore, and the receipt doesn't have these same post-discount line items.

Got it in my cart now, mulling it over. Not even sure why it shows the 20% from the Kindle trade-in as less than the 15% off, but I suspect it has something to do with when they deducted which percentage? It took me several tries to get it to respond when I clicked the link to add a promo code. Also, I had thought it would be 10% back on Amazon devices with my Amazon card as it was for the kids paperwhite (I think), but it's only 5% back. For me it shows:

Items (3):
$188.97
Shipping & handling:
$2.99
Free Shipping:
-$2.99
Kindle Trade-In:
-$30.23
15% off Kindle:
-$37.80
Estimated tax to be collected:
$9.61
Total:
$130.55
Gift Card:
-$25.00
Order total:
$105.55

Fyi, if anyone is interested, the value of the charging dock after discounts is $19.28, and the cover is $15.85. If I get this, I may return their cover if I like one of the others that are around $10. I'd get back about $35 for returning the two, then spend another $10 for a different cover, so I'll call that a net $25 additional discount.

If I wait, I could see maybe the CB on the Amazon card goes to 10% for prime day, and maybe the cb on other sites might go up too. But I could also see that 15% code possibly stop working or some other thing changing that would make this cost more. Gott give this a think, lol

Yep! That's the one. I was getting the prices mixed up (hence the goofy dual pricing in the title I can't fix). Thanks for the link!I picked up the 64Gb version for $309. Less a 20% trade in of $62 and 10% CB on my Prime Card. So all in will be $214ish plus a $5 GC for the trade in item. Finally get to upgrade my old Kindle Oasis.
How did you get 20% trade in discount? Can we apply that immediately?

The 20% trade in only applies to the Kindle without unlimited. It was not instant discount for me, but I got an email confirming the $62 discount after I send in my trade. I wasn't able to use the 15% code either.

Does anyone use this as primarily a notebook? I think I'd have real value to have one of these for work but I've read that getting notes off of this and into something usable on a computer is a challenge. I prefer to take notes by hand but would then like to be able to organize it on my PC (mainly one note)

I bought the 16gb scribe and a 256gb nxtpaper. Returned the scribe. The key button on nxtpaper is a game changer.

Just got mine in the mail... dang is this heavy. 2x heavier than my Oasis. Not sure I'm keeping the Scribe. 433g vs 188g. Plus the screen has a pretty sever after image during page turns.

I'll give it a week. There's a lot to love about it, but there are short comings. Will see if they are deal breakers.

The Scribe is a notepad first, an e-reader second. Just want to keep that in mind. They're pretty popular in meetings as there's an app that lets you publish to OneNote. I think the Remarkable tablet is similar but more high end.

nope, scribe is reader 1st, notepad 2nd. Remarkably is the opposite

The Walmart Site says tcl nxtpaper 11 plus they sell has 8gb ram. Is this correct or a mistake.
Reviews say 256 / 12gb

I got the bundle and it does not separate out each item so can't return the charger on its own.

While I agree, the weight and size really makes it a subpar reader, though.

The lack of global text search (like Supernote) make it a not-great notebook, either.

It's cheap, though.

I've been using various Kindles since 2007 and I currently have two: the Oasis and the first gen Scribe.

The Oasis is my primary e-reader (I got the Scribe mostly to mark up PDFs) but I like both. The Scribe is definitely the fastest e-reader I've used; it's just a bit less convenient to hold for a novel due to the size. Usually I'll use the stand to keep it upright.

If I didn't already own a Scribe I would definitely jump on this deal.
I jumped on this deal a few days ago, 'upgraded' from my oasis as well.

Agree with everything you say here; for me, I like the scribe a lot better as I wanted a bigger e-reader - if your goal is primarily for reading and note taking as a small bonus, a hands down winner at this price, especially with a 5 dollar / 20% discount on an Amazon device you were going to throw away anyway.

More than any other kindle I think the cover is a necessity - the 'official' cover to be exact. Taking the scribe out of the cover is easy as can be, the pen stays in the loop as opposed to attached to the kindle itself, and a naked scribe is only slightly heavier than an oasis with a cover at that point / perfectly manageable for me. Any other cover and it's too much of a PITA to get the cover off or the pen detached and you add 50% of the weight with the whole kit on it.
