For Blink, the subscription isn't just for storage, it includes basic features. For example, they disable motion alerts without a subscription.

That's what I believed when I bought it, but after the two 30 day trials ended, I never did get it to work again. Amazon refunded the sync 2 module and I sold the cameras on fb marketplace.
