I have SO much braid from all these deals…but I still ordered 3 because I'm trying to see which braid I prefer. Thanks OP for making me broke!

I just respooled my reels that had 20 year old mono on them. So not very often.

As a side note, I recommend burning your old fishing line so that it doesn't become a hazard to wildlife.

I have 10 year old braided line (probably spiderwire) on my rods and it's still works like it did when it was new. I used to change out line every year or two but I fish a lot less these days. I just ordered this though, so I will have J-braid for probably the next 10 years again. I typically pull spinners fishing for walleye btw.

Really depends on how hard you fish during the season. I do it around 2-3 years. But I'd reverse the braid and use another 2-3 years before I dump it. They do last a long while if they are taken care of.

I hate that I had to buy this. Is there a support group for those of us that can't pass up a fishing deal?

Depends on what kind of fishing and what kind of line.

Mono? Yearly or every other. Can be a lot of memory depending on brand and # test.
Braid? Every 3ish yrs I'll reverse it if enough left otherwise replace on my most used rods. I have other rods with the same braid from 5 yrs ago, just dont get used much.
Hard-core guys will replace throughout the season. This is in reference to MN fresh water lakes for bass and walleye. Not Salt water.

20 year old mono, whether it was used or not is going to be complete garbage because it's line strength is going to be heavily reduced and it's going to have a ton of memory. Mono is cheap (yes, there are expensive ones but cheap fresh mono is way better than expensive really old mono). I fish a decent amount and I change my mono every year or when it starts changing it's properties.

Braid, on the other hand, can last a very long time depending on usage. It only is really affected under use so I have some reels with light usage with qualilty 10+ year old braid that performs almost like new
