Makes it about $100 after a 20% trade-in that gets a typical $5 credit.
I tried the GETKINDLE15 code I've seen rolling around, didn't work.

Thanks, I was just about to put it in my cart to try that. But on the deal for the kindle scribe, someone said they got both by doing the trade-in independently to get the 20% in their account, and then it let them use that at the 15%. I wonder if that would work for the Paperwhite? I'm not 100% sure how that worked, I asked a followup and don't know the answer yet. It's very tempting either way, even though I'm worried about the yellow band many seem to get on the new paperwhite.

Nevermind, just realized if the getkindle15 isn't working on the paperwhite alone (which I just tried), it sure won't work in combo with the 20% no matter how you try it.

If the yellow band is there...return it Smilie

I tried applying the 15% code independently, all sorts of ways. Couldn't get anything to work. Others have said it's like a special invite one-use code for select accounts.
I dunno, but $100 is as low as I could get it (+tax).
Best of luck! I'm using the good ol' Oasis, and I miss the more simple aspect ratio and size of the Paperwhite. Certainly just a preference thing, but because I have that I'll be holding off on this rather good deal.

I have the previous paperwhite and love it, so don't know if there's any point spending money on another one. I do like that it's a little bigger and faster, but I've seen many people have to do multiple returns for that yellow band, and it's a pita I don't really need. Especially when I've got a paperwhite that I like.

BUT I also have way too many old Amazon devices to trade in, one of which is still worth $25 (other than my old paperwhite which I think is worth $30, but I'm keeping that even if I try the new paperwhite). Many of the devices that were worth $25-$30 not so long ago have dropped to $5 trade-in! So I may go ahead and trade in the one tablet for $25 that I don't really need anymore and just get the money - but once I do that, it's very tempting to use that 20% off, lol.

Usually once there is a Prime Day sale early for Kindles, it doesn't get cheaper for that item for Prime Day. But some other bundle could be a better value later, or the PW on its own.

But if you can get the 15% deal to work, this seems like a no brainer (did not work for me).

Especially, if you can stack a trade-in with it!

It can be. It literally has "kids" in the title of the product.

Hit up google, add the word "reddit" to your search. It's the paperwhite 12 gen as well (this one). Loads of comments out there. It's not just yellow band, it's uneven lighting, etc. I will almost pull the trigger, read more and more reviews, then back off as I'm not interested in having to return repeatedly and get one bad unit after another. Apparently it's not fixable with software updates, as it's still going on. Some devices won't have it, some don't have it immediately but develop it, and I think some people just aren't bothered by it and are happy with the device, but others would go nuts looking at their screen. Sucks, as I really want one of these and have a stellar deal set up in my cart for the SE edition, but haven't pulled the trigger.

Yeah, apparently they made it so that with the 12th gen that if you're not using the kids' setup, you get ads. That said, the ads are only on the lockscreen and not that bad (though I have the 11th gen kids' version, set up for an adult, and it's nice not having the ads - but not a dealbreaker). The dealbreaker for me is how many people have problems with these, I think uneven lighting or yellow areas would drive me nuts. And my gen 11 is perfectly fine - I wouldn't mind the extra speed, enhanced contrast, and slightly larger screen of the gen 12. But what good is that if I'm constantly calling CS and returning these things? I'm so on the fence, as it's basically a lottery - I might get one that's fine.
