Adoption fees waived at Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center as shelter faces capacity issues
The shelter is over 500% capacity for cats and over 130% capacity for dogs.

.

The center is temporarily waiving all adoption fees for cats and dogs to expedite the process of finding the animals a new home. It emphasizes that its facility is meant to be a "short-term safe haven," citing that crowded living conditions can increase the risk of spreading infectious diseases and other stresses for animals.

Despite this, some dogs and cats have been at the center for 100 days or more.

The Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, located on 440 N. Falkenburg Rd. in Tampa.
(check on July 4th hours)

If you are not looking to adopt, residents can also sign up as a foster volunteer to help free up space and allow shelter dogs and cats to socialize more with people.
