According to this Reddit discussion[reddit.com], yes; the Sync Module 2 is compatible. In fact, it's actually preferable, since it supports USB storage. That means you won't be forced into a monthly subscription plan; you can simply store motion detection clips on an attached USB drive.
The newest generation Blink Doorbell comes with the Sync Module Core, which doesn't have a USB port. As a result, it doesn't support local drive recording, and you'll be compelled to pay for a subscription to view recorded video.
As for the deal, it seems pretty decent; especially if you trade in your first-gen doorbell for a $10 credit plus 20% off. I'm going to wait until Prime Day (July 8thβ11th) before purchasing or trading anything in, though, hoping even better bargains pop up by then...

I have sync module for the camera (from 2 years ago i think). Will it work for the doorbell ?

I loved my ring doorbell but they raised the price on the subscription and I canceled it. now it's nothing unless you're on your phone at the same time somebody's at your door. no more snapshots or nothing. really disappointing I'm not sure what I'm going to do

I am considering this since the Nest I have doesn't show up quickly when someone rings the door bell. By the time it launches, the person is gone. I do have sync module that came with the XT cameras.

1st gen user here and hate it. The lag makes two way communication practically unsuable. My house is blanketed in WiFI both inside and outside so it's not a wifi issue, it's a crappy blink doorbell problem
Seriously in the market the video doorbell market is so shitty.
Once upon a time I had skybell hands down the best video doorbell. But, unfortunately they didn't last.
So I got Google Nest , that wouldn't last one and half years in Texas summer, now it's not chime or sent notification anymore so basically trash.
Ring doesn't work without subscription.
Blink has very horrible reviews.
Eufy not sure?
Is there any good video doorbell that records locally or at least 7 days without subscription.

I got a Eufy couple years ago and don't regret it a bit after reading reviews here for other brands. Not sure all models are the same, but mine has on-board AI for human detection without a subscription. Very quick rich notifications (snapshot zoomed into face). About 30 days worth of events stored locally.
Mine does not record 24/7; it even missed a knock-and-run in broad daylight, so not perfect. But that's what redundancy is for (bunch of cheap Wyze cams still functioning).
I'm in DFW, but the doorbell is facing only the morning sun. The HDR keeps people from becoming just silhouettes.
