Correct me if I'm wrong, but this paddle is banned in tournaments. You can still use it recreationally tho. And this price is amazing for joola

You are correct. This paddle was not only extremely powerful for the time, but it is still the extremely gritty to unfair levels (great spin). Some were so gritty they would stick to your shirt. Even in rec play some people may not be a fan of someone using this paddle. For $100 you can get a the Friday Fever power paddle, it won't have that crazy spin or be as powerful, but it will be USAP approved.

I can see it now in a neighborhood rec play. There's a dude testing at the court testing if the grit stays on your shirt or not whether he will play you. Oh guess what? He can't not allow you to play if you use this paddle because... You are not playing in a tournament. BTW there is only 1 association that has banned this paddle. Yes it's the biggest one in the US but in other countries, it is not banned.

Not saying I would stop someone with this paddle from playing, but people can stop someone from playing in rec play. Different parks have different rules. Some are first come first serve, they don't have to let you paddle up. Some courts only have lines and players bring their own net, so again they don't have to let you play. Also this paddle is not UPA-A approved either so technically the two biggest associations have banned it.

Unless someone has paid for a court reservation, how can anyone in open rec play not let you play with a specific paddle? I have never heard of such a thing. There are parks with signs that say "only usap approved paddles are allowed"? Nope. If someone doesn't want to play in a game against someone using this paddle, they can take themselves out of the game, but they cannot take the other person out. If it's open play, it's open play. Sure, it's different if you paid for the court reservation for that time period. But in those cases you are usually among friends and I can't I can't imagine a friend not letting someone play because of a paddle.

Neither of those situations are open play. If it's first come and first serve, they are already coming with enough people to play. If they are going through the hassle of bringing their own net, they are likely playing on their own as well. These are not common scenarios that becomes open play. Have you ever witnessed someone getting turned away because of a paddle???? Seriously, if you are not comfortable with it, then don't buy the paddle, but don't discourage others because of your insecurities. Obviously, people don't feel the same about this as you since this deal sold out in hours, not days.
