This is not a bad deal but after reading Reddit it appears a lot of the refurb units break within 1 year and it's a hassle to claim insurance through Allstate.

Is it good enough to be a primary vacuum? The reason I haven't bought a cordless stick vac is it seems everyone says you still need a corded one for deep cleaning. I'd rather not own 2 vacs.
I would say yes. There is just a lot of emptying to do an you have to take off the main tube to do it, it is easy enough but I liked how the v8 just dropped out of the bottom. The v11 battery is impressive with the Auto mode. It detects when you need more power and when you don't. The V8 not so much, I would always have it on high and run out. I have not touched the dirt devil since I bought this.

Bought a v12 from this vendor. Item arrived and never got it to work. Plus, the aluminum pipe was dented and scratched.
Returning it was a nightmare because UPS status on ebay said "pending delivery". So I couldn't initiate a return on an item that was still marked not delivered. Vendor made the return process extremely difficult.

couldnt you request a refund then if the item is marked as never being delivered?

Got this last time. It arrived DOA. You can't contact them via eBay. They have a return slip you can request, which they didn't respond to for a few weeks. Once they finally approved the return, I mailed it in but still haven't received a refund.

They list digital Motorhead, even showing 3 separate pictures in the listing specifically for it, yet it is not included. Dyson's customer service, especially on eBay, sucks horribly.
I noticed that too. The pictures show the Motörhead but the listing says torque cleanerhead. I wouldn't recommend this even though it is a good price but uses old technology. Motörhead has been out for awhile and the the hair detangler is amazing. Had my v15 for years and never had to clean wife's hair from the Motörhead. With our older Dyson I would have to use a razor to clear the hair and would accidentally cut into the brissels. The Motörhead is approx $99 if you factor into that price.

In my opinion the v10 absolute is the sweet spot in the Dyson lineup. Nearly as powerful, has a fluffy head and much lighter. I've owned and used several of these including the V8, v10, 11, and 15 detect. Bought a handful as gifts too. If you know anyone with kids, get them one. Best gift ever
V8 has finally died and I dropped it and broke the casing anyway so rather than replace the battery I'm just going to get a new unit. Was about to pull the trigger on the V10 Animal at Costco for $400 but this is $150 cheaper. Really trying to justify new vs refurb given peoples experiences.

Is there a difference between 'torque' and 'high torque'? Beacuse when I google a comparison between the two (motorhead and torque head) I get a comparison between the motorhead and high torque head and the comparison says the high torque head is better for hard floors.

249 on Dysons website. I would rather buy it from Dyson than eBay in case you need to return or replace.

I see the comment about Allstate frequently, but our v11 from a previous deal broke and we had no issue having them fix it through the warranty. Coincidentally this was probably about the 1 year mark. The trigger stopped working properly, essentially the spring or mechanism made it sporadic.I've also had luck back when they were Squaretrade. Obviously this is YMMV and maybe we've just been lucky.

We purchased a eBay Dyson refurbished V11 Animal, and it died just after 2 years. I went through Dyson customer service to help troubleshoot and possibly order replacement parts, and their best resolution was to buy another one 🙃
