I know JFK isn't very accessible by public transportation but $80+ tip for a ride to the city from the airport is insane.
And using gift card as payment method jacked up the price. If you have used cc or debit, it would be significant cheaper. Not worth the deal when gc used. They have higher price for gc payment.

I am heading to NYC on Monday. This is going to be perfect for saving money on an Uber from JFK to my hotel in midtown Manhattan which usually costs about $80 + tip. You can go Yellow cab OR a ride share and it's basically the same price, or within $5, in my experience. So, this is a fantastic deal. I'll probably get $200 worth.

Thanks for the heads up!

Be aware if you successfully purchase GCS, you may not be able to load to the wallet immediately. (Error message)I had to wait half a day probably for security reasons.

If you add Gift cards to your Uber account, Uber increases the price of the rides. Scumbag behavior. Ymmv
No it does not. You can easily check by adding the GC and getting a price. Then ask someone else to book a ride from and to the same place at the same time. The prices will be similar.

🤯i noticed this too as my regular ride increased and thought maybe pricing just increased overall!

I did a fair amount of testing with this after people mentioned it here. And I don't think its true.

I tested it by looking at fares on lyft and they were similar. for 2 rides from lax to my home and from my destination airport to the hotel. lyft and uber were similar.

Then I had my wife do the same check and her prices were the same. I also had my brother check for airport to a destination 1 block from hotel since he doesn't have gift cards either and his were the same.

Just to be extra sure that those higher rates weren't due to airport fees. I then had my wife, my dad, my brother and myself check rates from location close to our hotel to location close to our destination on both Uber and Lyft.

All the rates had parity, just a few bucks off with Uber GC account sometimes being lowest by 1 or 2 bucks and someone times being most expensive by 1 or 2. I don't attribute the fluctuation to GC gouging.

But someone could run more tests with more control groups.

No, limit 4 on this offer, for a total of $400 in gift cards. Working even if you bought during the last sale on June 21, and are technically within the 14 day purchase limit.
I do see same limit mentioned - max 2 within 14 days.

The nonsense about gift cqrds I think the orgin was some Reddit post. Its false. People dont undertand the prices keep changing. Sometimes I wait and reload things. They also dont know you can pick credit card (if paranoid for payment) then switch after the ride to the gift card in your wallet. Why do clueless people repeat the same thing? Every post about these cards you will see similar. More sruprising is you find most of them never used Uber for rides or used them once in 5 yrs.

At time of search you pick credit card. Then you can change it to gift card. Prices for Uber are variable within mins of any search. Not always but often.

You won't be getting promos either way. They completely stopped doing promos (at least for restaurants).
With balance I still get useless convenience store and other promos.

In for 2 orders! When you combine these discounted cards from Costco along with BOGO free deals on the app and do pickup, it's cheaper than buying directly from the restaurant. On top of that, it's not asking me to tip anymore!

FYI you can't use these credits international. Gift cards purchased in the US can only be redeemed in the US. So if you plan on purchasing some to use international, don't. They won't work.
