While it's been said many times in previous threads, if you pick one of these up make sure you pick up a heatsink as well. The included Wraith does not do a good enough job for the 5800XT, which is basically a Ryzen 5700X running overclocked by juicing it up 40W [cpubenchmark.net]. The higher the wattage, the higher the TDP. And the Wraith cannot properly handle that extra heat.

Bought the $150 deal bundled with Team T-FORCE 16GB a couple of weeks ago. Upgrade from my very old 2700X. The 5800XT pairs very nicely with my old 3080 FE. Haven't seen any extreme heating issues using the stock Wraith cooler that others claim to have. Already had 32GB of Corsair Vengeance 3600 Ram, so threw that in the pile maybe use the old 2700X and make a cheap build to mess with.

I don't know if this is still true but I remember AMD was supposedly using TDP numbers based on the heatsink that came with the CPU, not what the CPU itself actually drew. That's why the Ryzen 5 3600X had almost a 50% higher TDP than the Ryzen 5 3600, despite both chips having nearly identical power/heat characteristics. The 3600X came with the Wraith Spire, while the 3600 came with the less capable Wraith Stealth. IMHO, neither of those coolers were worthwhile. Anyway, my point was that TDP ratings have become almost worthless.

Maybe, however that still doesn't change the fact that the 5800X and XT are known to run hot. Reddit is chock full of threads discussing it. And it's common knowledge that if you are using either processor for heavy loads like gaming or video encryption, the included heatsink isn't capable of properly handling the spikes in temperature. However, a good cheap $20 cooler like the Thermalright Assassin 120 is enough to handle things, unless you are going to really dig in and overclock it. That was the point.
