In terms of this actual deal, I have this bike. It's your typical 30 mph 48v bike. At $500, it's a good price. Typical squeeling cheap mechanical breaks, but it does in fact do 30mph and i've done 10miles plus with no issue. (I typically don't go further than 10 miles round trip, for that, i drive my car.) Worst case scenario you re-sell this bike on facebook marketplace, of which getting 400-500 should be do-able. Enough people own this bike that getting information online is reasonable on it.
As a note, i did eventually upgrade this bike to a 72v motor, controller and battery, but that's mainly because i wanted much more acceleration and liked to tinker.

The battery capacity determines the range. You can just compare the battery and get a good idea. Other factors contribute very minimal to the range difference because your weight is the major factor for the range and it is a constant.

Hesitant to buy something of this price range form AliExpress but I've heard they're good about returns and handling delivery issues.

I own an Ariel Rider Grizzly which is similar in styling to this, and has a similar top speed. If you stick to 20mph or less and pedal here and there you might see 2-3X the range as just going full send max speed.
