Phenomenal display. Very gentle curve that I surprisingly really liked. Word of caution: The panel coating itself on these is very soft, so it scratches EXTREMELY easily. Only clean this (air dust first) with a BRAND NEW microfiber lens cloth and liberal amounts of alcohol-free lens cleaner (with the panel on its back). If you don't use a NEW cloth and LIQUID every single time, you WILL scratch it.

Going to be hard pressed to push 240hz at 4k on any modern AAA titles. You might get that if you play Minecraft, anything else i don't think so. You can either have the extremely high hz or you can have 4k but you sure will never push both of these even on a 5 series card.

Easy to do now that dlss 4 is around. 1080p image looks upscale close to native 4k while having 200-400fps+ in most games.

But. You can scroll faster.. And read at the same time!

Lol but yea I agree.. This high hz is useless for gaming. I guess maybe if you put every graphic setting to ultra low. Then put in some Nvidia fake bs marketing frames into the mix.

I tried some fake frames on my AMD card and I'm just going to say, try it before you knock it.

Trust me, I was on the same page you were. And I still kind of am, I hate they would rather put effort in producing fake frames over improving raster. HOWEVER, it is very serviceable, and I'm pretty sensitive/snobby about lag/choppiness/latency. If you're hitting 80+ on the game, the fake do improve the experience as long as you're not a serial pixel peeper. I'm just trying to enjoy my games with what limited time I have now.

Agreed that 240hz probably isn't the main selling point here. It's basically the same 4k OLED-QD panel in all of the other 32" competing monitors right now. However, assuming you're going to keep it for 5+ years, it's not unreasonable to think you might get to frame rates that exceed the monitors in the ~165hz range as I was already maxing out my 120hz monitor with a "meager" 4070ti in games like Overwatch. So it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that an upgrade next year would be pushing 180fps+ at 4k ever on a mid-tier graphics card without too much DLSS magic. But if you're looking for an OLED panel in this size, this is easily the best price for a non-refurb, non open box unit right now. I couldn't find the MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS equivalent units for anything less than ~$1000+. I was going to bite the bullet even at $849 - 5% EPP discount until I saw the Dell Rewards discount by chance.

I'm in the same boat, old-school PC gamer who's suspicious of a lot of these new elements adding too much fudge factor...look at the constant muddiness and glitches that plagued FXAA, TAA, and FSR for years, and still crop up depending on the quality of implementation. Fake frames suck for benchmark comparisons or to try and bring a barely playable game up to playable. Where these fake frames excel is exactly what you said, a game that already has smooth input and framerate without, and pushing that FPS into the stratosphere without overtaxing the rest of the system. A high (240Hz+) refresh rate monitor gives you the top of the range, but what it really does is lets you have smooth VRR over a large range that actually lets you utilize 99% of your hardware at any given moment, rather than waiting for frames or overtaxing your CPU when this gives 90% of the result for only a slight extra load.

Hopefully your device has audio out (analog, optical, or bluetooth) or you have a receiver that can handle eARC/ARC via HDMI from the monitor. Otherwise, there is no analog out on the monitor. It's disappointing that there is no optical out. But there are HDMI ARC to optical adapters.

The EOTF tracking isn't great on these and peak brightness doesn't get very high with "real-world" HDR content. So you get a subpar HDR experience. https://tftcentral.co.uk/articles...e-aw3225qf

I have the ultrawide variant of this monitor and am happy with it, but if your plan is to use it exclusively for HDR gaming I would look into an LG OLED tv.

Yeah. It's not a Dell thing either, it's how these Samsung panels are made (Samsung makes the actual panel itself). Also, to be clear, they are "micro scratches" and cannot be seen with the display on, but they're still there. In fact, the initial run of these had scratches out of the box because Dell didn't use a plastic/foam sheet to protect the panel in the box. I have a special cloth and cleaner I use for my monitors and I scratched my AW3225QF. I'm very particular about this kind of thing. After it happened I searched "AW3225QF Scratches" and a lot of stuff came up. Dell swapped it and it's been fine, but I've been overly cautious and will only cleaned it as described. I ended up getting an LG 42" C2 OLED so I went back to an LCD for 'office tasks' and sold the AW3235QF. I can tell you though, in many ways, I really think the AW3225QF is superior, but I picked up the LG42C2 for half the cost of the AW so it made sense for me.I just want people to be aware of the scratch issue so they can prevent it. The actual image is the best I've seen. Very punchy.
