Can't in good faith recommend Roku in 2025. The baked-in ads become more intrusive by the day.

What ads? Are you talking about the Roku streamers or Roku TV?

I haven't noticed an increase in ads except maybe on the home screen.

Agreed. Ads are not a problem for us.

who is "us"? lol. yes they are a problem, and I don't want to have to explain to my 8 year old why two dudes are kissing when she turns on the TV.
Wife & I = us.

I'm confused about the ads. I only see one ad to the right of the home screen whenever I start up Roku. I've never seen "two dudes kissing" on any Roku add. Now on Paramount Plus, Peacock etc, yes they are there.

You can disable all targeted ads on your Roku in the settings. If you are seeing gay stuff, it's because you were searching for gay stuff. It's based on your likes and interests. Just like your TikTok algorithm, and the kinds of things that you see on Google and Facebook. Just Google "How to disable ads on Roku", and that should fix it for you. There is a hidden developer mode in every Roku that can get rid of stuff like that.

Maybe your catered or applicable ad algorithm is different than ours.

I still don't know where people are seeing ads using a Roku streaming device. When I shift right off the home screen to select an app, there is one block to the right with an ad. I never ever pay attention to it. I select the app I want to open and that's it. How is anybody seeing multiple ads, makes no sense?

Yeah, I'm confused too. Maybe there's an ad? I've never actually noticed. Only when I watch ad supported content like YouTube or Tubi. Otherwise this sounds like some sort of Alex Jones fear mongering.
