if you have a Samsung phone, sign up for the Sofi money card thru Samsung wallet. think requires just transferring $10-15 dollars to sofi checking account, which then will give you access to Samsung savings program, which is similar to epp.

Feel free to elaborate. I'm in the market, so your advice is appreciated. Not looking to be in the $2-3k range, thank you.
I got the 990D on a SD here for $649. If youre using this in a living room/family room where you can get some separation between the front sound bar and the rear speakers...get it!

I also have a 7.1 dedicated system in my larger family room - full Klipsch Reference Premier set up with towers, side and rear bookshelf, and a SVS PC-2000 Pro subwoofer.

Of course, the soundbar doesnt compare, at all, so dont bother trying to. Whether its volume, depth of sound, depth of bass, the soundbar cant reproduce any of that. But, this soundbar is still amazing.

I use the soundbar in our living room to watch OTA TV and streaming services. The bar does get really loud and even when loud its distortion-free and speech is really crisp. The system does a great job separating sound and moving it across the speakers so that, for example, something flying over your head and to the side you will clearly hear going past you and into the distance behind you.

As the other poster put it - Buy it (this is agreat price) and dont even think about it later.

Do download and use the Samsung app to gain finer control over system.

I have the Q990C (basically 99.9% the same as the D in terms of audio) and regularly have it at 20-25 volume with no issues.... That I know of 😉
Same here albeit I have the baby brother 800b. 20-25 seems to be the max I'm comfortable turning it up in my condo depending on the content. Even with the subwoofer turned down being able to feel the bass makes me paranoid about my neighbors complaining. You can probably go higher in night mode.

Shit when the bass shakes my couch I'm like "damn I'm in the movie" and then immediately pray my neighbors don't complain.

The way I see it, until they complain, I won't change anything, and if they say something, then I'll adjust.

How do the rear speakers connect to the soundbar, and do they require an outlet connection each?
The rear speakers, just like the sub, connect to the soundbar wirelessly. Each of these 4 components uses a detachable, interchangeable power cable. I haven't measured them, but I estimate they are 2x 5 ft and 2x 7ft.

It's a two part answer to this really. 1) if you're already in the Sonos ecosystem and you're planning on keeping the other Sonos products in your home, you should just stick with your Sonos home theater setup. 2) if that's your only Sonos product(s) and you're big on watching movies with the most immersive audio formats, this will win for sure. One thing to keep in mind is your room layout. If you don't have flat ceilings, or if you're sitting a significant distance away from where the bar will be placed, you'll lose a lot of the height effects this will produce.

This bar is *much* bigger and will play much louder, so neighbors should be considered if you live in an apartment or condo. These bars throw a ton of sound around the room, so having walls and ceilings to bounce the sound off are important. If you're in a large open room where the sound can't be "beamed" to the listener, you'll be missing out and likely be unhappy with changing out your system.

This is a great deal on a very well reviewed bar, but if you want to stay in the Sonos ecosystem you could always consider moving up to an Arc or Arc Ultra. Both of which would add a lot of the functionality this has but remaining in your home audio network. The Beam is by no means a bad bar, but it doesn't have dedicated up firing drivers like this and the Arc have, so any height effects that are in the audio will be far less pronounced as the Beam is "faking" them so to speak.
Awesome super helpful response, thanks and repped!
Now I'm tempted to pick this up anyway for the living room (open concept plan with kitchen and dining nook, approx 8' ceiling so might be ideal for this setup) and move my beam gen 2 to a room upstairs where the height effects dont matter as much. Only concern is my townhome shares a living room wall with a neighbor, so I would be paranoid about disturbing them.

You're welcome! 8' ceilings should be ideal for reflected height audio. The heights effects are not always super prevalent, so you have to be watching the right content to really get it to sound right, but when they're utilized properly they sound great. Though I'm probably telling you things you already know.

If it helps, these Samsung bars typically get cited for having weaker subs. Not bad, but some people want the walls rattling and these aren't designed for that. Thankfully with wireless subs you can place them where it makes the most sense, plus you can place it near your listening position and away from the wall where it might annoy the neighbor. I'd highly recommend watching Andrew Robinson's YouTube video review on this bar as he goes into a lot of detail about the strengths and weaknesses of it. Well worth the somewhat longish watch.

I have to disagree. Friends don't let friends buy this e-waste garbage. Save your money and get real speakers.
I have real speakers on my main TV but I have the 990C in my office and it's awesome. One of the best purchases I've ever made. I think I only paid $650 after cashback when that one was on sale.

How loud or quiet can you make this in an apartment building?
i have the rears and sub on a remote controlled outlet switch. they are about $17 on amazon. the sub is behind my couch. the bar can get very quiet. at night, i only have the soundbar on. i turned off auto volume since it goes all over the place. get ready to make a lot of adjustments and get very frustrated on connecting it if you are hooking it up to a PC. mine didnt work. had to go PC to TV to soundbar and lost out on anything DTS.

Is it possible to merge my EPP account with my personal account, or have them linked, or just tack on EPP benefits on my personal account? I'd hate for order emails to go through to work email.

edit: also, any cashbacks or credit card merchant offers that can be combined?

Got an EPP account and signed into Samsung incognito mode. None of my payment methods work now. I get the error every time with paypal, amazon pay and my CC. Using Chrome and Edge.
"We're unable to verify part or all of your information. Please review and update, then try again.
If this issue persists, please visit a trusted retail store to purchase."
Anyone encounter this before? Any workaround? I can't enter store outside of incognito mode.

When logged into your EPP account, you can send the order information to your personal email instead. Did it myself for the same reason. You will however get a notification in your work email about using another address that reads:

We are writing to inform you that a new order ######### has been placed on your Samsung account using a different email. If you have placed this order, please disregard this notice.

If you have not placed this order, please click below to cancel your order immediately. We also recommend that you change your password, and contact Samsung Customer Support to report this transaction.
