They have Lii-on or some other battery and needs to be charged.
How do u maintain it? Do you need it to be plugged in at home all the time?
Because you rarely use them - only in emergency. Rest of the time?

I've owned other jumpstarters. They only have to be charged a few times a year when not in use. Although extreme heat is not good for their longevity, I keep mine in my car year round. The one I'm now replacing still works after 6 years, but is just beginning to swell.
