It seems likely that new customers for this item may receive previous customer returns....as there are likely many returns of this item and sleazy Amazon ships customer returns disguised as "new" on a regular basis.

BTW...."Amazon" branded products are definitely a mixed bag, so it doesn't surprise me that this seems like one that's a reject.

I would think you're being dramatic if I hadn't seen it myself. I bought a set of Anker charging cables, and the ones they sent me looked like a dog chewed them up. They're clearly not checking returns so they go right back out to another customer. They probably rationalize it that the items are low value, but that's not the point.
