Great read. Feels more like Star Wars than the crappy films that Disney threw at us. Though I am glad they finally decided to make Thrawn an on-screen character.

I really don't understand why they didn't base the new trilogy on these books instead of filming without a pre-written script.

Fans know there is no Rey trilogy and just these books. Disney's trilogy is horrid.

I just finished the prequel book the author wrote after the trilogy. It was okay.. is this trilogy that much better??

Read the first two books. Serviceable, not amazing. Way better than the Disney garbage though. "Haha the New Order just pops up and destroys the entire Republic fleet, conveniently all at 1 location, in a GALAXY with 1 attack. Now it's rebels vs empire again lol"

That's also the opinion of Lucas. He said he thought Star Wars was basically dead, then these books did super well followed by some of the games doing well. He straight up said that's why the Prequels happened.
