Also, this should extend an existing subscription. You just have to be extending the subscription of the same product. So, if you already have Total Security with 5 devices, when you log into your Bitdefender account and redeem the code, it should ask you if you want to start a new subscription or extend the existing one.

That's a good deal.

OK, I know, this isn't necessary if you practice good security habits, and Microsoft Defender is good enough, but I've got a 13 year old and an 11 year old. I try to teach them about good security practices, and they're usually pretty careful, but they're kids, and they can slip up.

Also, this should extend an existing subscription. You just have to be extending the subscription of the same product. So, if you already have Total Security with 5 devices, when you log into your Bitdefender account and redeem the code, it should ask you if you want to start a new subscription or extend the existing one.

Last time I tried that, it started a whole new subscription unfortunately. Didn't give me the option to extend the existing one.

On a previous thread, I read they fixed that behavior, and it worked when I bought and activated a code.

Did you purchase that renewal from the same vendor? I was told by customer service that only purchases made thru the same vendor can be extended. If you buy from say Amazon and try to renew from Newegg it isn't possible.

I originally bought from amazon 1 year 5 devices total security. This time from newegg I got the 2 years 5 devices total security. When you go in to bitdefender central on the left hand side, click on "my subscription." Next page that opens on the right, click activate with code. Enter in the newegg code. Click next. Will ask for payment info and name blah blah ignore.. scroll down to bottom. click on "Later" link. You'll see another screen click next. Then it will ask to extend subscription or start a new one. Select extend. It works fine. You just have to make sure you buy the same version. ie 1 device total security you buy the 1 device total security to extend. 5 device you buy the 5 device total security version to extend. It doesn't matter from 1 year to 2 year activation just has to be same version type and amount of devices. I just extended mine about an hour ago.

YMMV? This didn't work for me unfortunately. I made sure it was the same product I originally purchased and the only option I'm seeing is "Add a new subscription". Note: I made my initial purchase from Bitdefender directly.

EDIT: I reached out to their support via chat. They asked me to activate the new subscription and they merged it with my original 1 year subscription on the backend. Somehow the new expiration date is now 3 whole years from today even though I was a couple of months into my original 1 year. So that's a WIN 🙌 😊

I was able to extend mine just fine as well - been extending the last couple of times with ease. Great value!
