Am I crazy for wanting something like this, but in 4k? Could a 5700x3D and 5080 even handle that?

Just like the link in the previous message shows, the 4K version of something like this from Samsung is a mini LED and is 57". The problem is that unlike a regular 4K monitor that is 3840x2160, this one is 7,680x2,160, so basically two 4K monitors. To drive that monitor and get a high frame rate, you would have to fill double the pixels and I'm guessing you would be dipping into RTX 5090 territory to do that.

I run a 9800X3D with RTX 5080 using a 4K 32-in OLED monitor with a regular 16:9 aspect ratio, and with some of these new AAA titles, I have to use DLSS and Frame Gen to hit decent framerates, so a 4K super ultra wide version of this would definitely need some juice.

Wow, I want this. I have an older Samsung 49 ultra wide 120 Hz. That is absolutely killer. I can't imagine what this upgrade would be.

I got the LCD old version of this. The curve is awesome. You forget it's a ridiculous skate ramp, works like a diet simulator.

The 4K version is wasted potential until the next generation $2000 GPU.

It's actually 5120x1440 - - I've got a 5080+9950X3D and drive it quite easily. Playing Dune lately at 200-240 fps at ultra everything. The worst thing about it is the TV style software.

I do pretty well with a 5080+9950X3D - you could do well with a 9800 and a 5080 or 5070TI.

I would personally avoid Samsung panels. I had the model before this one (240 hz mini-led). I loved it. I used it initially for work and then shifted it towards a racing sim(so the product never moved or hit anything). It just randomly stopped working on me after i came back to racing after like a 2 month hiatus (traveling and life). It still turns on, so the monitor is getting power (i see the back light turn on) but no information displays on the monitor - not even the menu UI displays on the monitor. I was outside the warranty period and when contacting Samsung, they weren't able to find any technicians near me to assist with it as well. I had this monitor for right around 4-5 years I think... so I guess I got my money out of it but paying $1600 for a whats considered a premium product and only getting 5 years still doesn't sit right with me. It had issues occasionally, even when it worked, like random flickering, or half of the display would be a different color then the other half, or when switching from my work mac to gaming pc, it wouldn't turn on and I'd have to restart my PC while the monitor is off... It always had annoying issues, but I forgave all of it because I really did love the monitor and enjoyed my time and experience with it. So much that I always gander whenever a newer model pops up on Slickdeals - but I can't invest that much money or advice someone else to knowing the QC issues that Samsung historically has and all the technical issues these particular monitors tend to have.

Maybe if LG or Alienware make a similar sized monitor, I'll spend the money again.
If you do take the plunge - good luck, hope you get a good one.

Note you are almost certainly referring to a 1000R (skate ramp). This OLED is 1800R and a much more subtle curve.

100% agree...I have this G95SC OLED and while it's pretty awesome it's not without it's issues. My panel died within a few months of ownership...thankfully samsung warranty covered it and came out and replaced the entire back panel/electronics. But even the new replacement had constant issues - problems with staying in 240hz mode, randomly going to 'sleep mode', not coming out of sleep mode which requires you to unplug the monitor and plug it back in, and lots of artifacts here and there. Honestly the issues haven't been so bad the past month or so after the latest 2046.5 firmware update...hopefully it stays that way!
