You have to buy supplies for your classroom? In Texas we have to send 2 pairs of scissor every year. Especially the pre-k to 2 they need the blunt scissor.

Sad you hear that you have to buy those basic supply. Hope do give you a budget for it. That is the parent responsibility to send the required supplies. Especially for Elementary and Middle school.
For HS i guess that is a little different but they should have their own supplies need for their need.

They never do...budget? Lol...dept gets approx $4000, divide that by 17 of us...we get about $235 for the whole school yr...I teach science...imagine the extra consumables for labs. Pretty upsetting to have to provide even pencils...

We get a bit of an office supply budget, but why waste it at $1-$2 per scissor when can buy out of pocket for these this cheap.
We are a poor area of California, so we do not send any supplies list to parents. Our problem is keeping the school supplies AT SCHOOL because the kids take them home. I have had students tell me their Mom told them to bring home scissors because she needed to them for something! I have had a student tell me she needed a new toothbrush and her Mom told her to ask her teacher for one. (Yes, I went on Amazon and ordered toothbrushes.)

Sad, that why i always do my parts and sometime i send them more than ask if i got a deal like a pack of 12 glues but they only need like 10 glues. I also don't question when my 3 kids they asked for more supplies during school.
